I just won two tickets to Singapore at our staff Christmas Party. Did you say that there was a nude beach there? If so, is it worth a quick trip up there to check it out?

I am confused about something. A lot of the pictures you see from Southeast Asia, the indigenous people are nude or half naked. Is this something they are trying to get away from by being anti naturism?

Hmmmm... I don't know of many cultures in Southeast Asia where the indigenous populations regularly go nude. Even in the Oceania region most indigenous people are generally clothed with sarongs and other coverings.

Congratulations on your tickets to SIN win; hopefully this is indicative of good times to come for you in 2004.
Yes my hubby and I have gone several times to a nude beach at Marina East of East Coast Rd which has an area set aside for gays and further on an area for girls, guys & families.We enjoyed it. I have been informed, however, that East Coast Park is currently undergoing upgrading works so am not sure how this may impact the area we went to. I will send you a separate email with a sketch map of the area we've been to. Hopefully it is still going and if so, ENJOY!

Following on from Spontanudity, I too do not know of total nudity anywhere in SE Asia or the Pacific other than a few tribes in Papaua New Guinea and years gone by some of the Australian Aboriginal tribes. The "western" civilization and it's imposition of "western" values has unfortunately destroyed what once was natural to us all. So much for one race imposing their customs and values on others.

Hi Spontanudity,
It's 3/4 of the way into the city (approx 13kms from Changi airport) off East Coast Parkway. Did you get the sketch map? Each time we've been there, the water is not good for swimming because of the oil polution from shipping!!

Hmmm... oil and pollution? Doesn't sound very nice at all. I think I might give it a miss. Let me know if you here of any other beaches in the SE Asia area. I'd be keen for a quick weekend trip if you can find one worth checking out.

It certainly is not a too promising scene at the moment.
After the great difficulty we have had living in the region and trying to find them, my hubby (who's an hotelier) and I believe that it now presents a window of opportunity to develop a couple of island resorts (1 in the Philippines, 1 in Thailand).
The concept is to provide two completely safe, secure, isolated, secluded naturist resort with the 5+star construction, facilities, amenities, and impeccable service extraordinaire where like minded guests can enjoy the ENTIRE EXPERIENCE; natural and man-made amenities, well being, health and enjoyment of the environment all in the most confidential way. Sorry guys it will be strictly ONLY for couples and ladies - single unattached men will not be allowed as guests. At each, the entire resort is to be nude with a small designated area being provided as clothes optional for those first timers to get accustomed to our lifestyle. All resort staff, including the security, will be female with all being nude except for the outer perimeter security. All guests will be pampered by our GEMs (guest experience managers) who are highly trained cross skilled personnel who are paid higher than the international standard. GEMs cater to all guests' needs from check-in to check-out but are forbidden from fraternization with our guests. Our security also would be highly trained specialists in security, close protection and unarmed combat. With our background, knowledge and exposure to SE Asia it is not hard to appreciate we place an enormous emphasis on not only meeting guests' expectations but exceeding them and part of this is total protection.
Well that's the idea at the moment so if and when we open, which would be in 2 years from now, I'll let you know also.

Why not Spontanudity!
You know Asia and the problems we have here. As a lady myself, I know that it will be easier to educate and convert women to naturism (bearing in mind it is a "foreign" concept for Asians) then the men as they women are much more service orientated and sensitive to guests' needs also. Women out number men in the main stream resort hotel industry at least 6 to 1 in most SE Asian countries. Bottom line; it's our money which establishes the resorts and it's our rules that operate them! If someone wants to come up with US$40 million for each resort, then they can set the rules. Sorry, no offence intended or implied and I apologise if it's taken the wrong way.
