Hello You All!
We just got back from Atlantic Shores Motel in Key West, Florida. They made some Major changes at their motel and we we were unaware of these November 1st switches until after we arrived.
There is NO more Skinny Dipping in their Swimming Pool. NO one is permitted to walk around near the Pool nor the Pier area Without their Bottoms on, anymore. They cutely refer to this as, "Bottoms Up". There are signs plastered on the walls around these areas. Someone will get on the speaker system and remind people to Immediately "Bottoms Up" every time you even stand up near your lounge chair. Many unknowing folks were reprimanded and sent back to their lounge chairs to get their Bottoms Up, Before they could return to the pool and deck area.
People looked "Glued" to their lounge chairs! They still allow nude sunbathing, but only when you remain stuck to your lounge chair, lying down.
We saw a number of people tip over on their chairs while trying to pull up their shorts and bathing suit bottoms, while still on their lounge chairs. Silly?
Maybe the Ownership was too Lenient in what they were permitting in the Past. So, Now they Over-React and become real Restictive about what they will allow. There is a more sensible Middle Ground, though we were unable to comment about anything that is now cast in Stone, and in the Signs around the area.
At least, you now Know about these Changes.
Like to Hear your Thoughts and Opinions!

What a shame. Panhandler and I have been there and it was so nice to have the best of both worlds pool and ocean. I really think they should have informed you of the changes before you arrived. The nude pool area was what influenced our staying there as opposed to other motels in the area.

Thats what I was wondering also. Or it's possible it might be a new city ordinance. Also they only mentioned bottoms so you must still be able to go top-less

This comes as no surprise to me, Americans freak out and turn place into prison every time someone is "offended" by something they perceive as wrong and submit their complaint to "authorities". I lived in Tampa / Saint Petersburg area for a while in 1986, although there were no official nude beaches, people scrambled around varies holes, coves and other natural hideouts as well as private boats. It was not uncommon for police and coast guard to raid the beaches in pursuit of few offenders they could surprise and turn in for "indecent exposure". As long as bushes, sand and fish didn't complain, one could get away with being nude at the beech and not make the 11 o'clock news. In this society we are not offended by anything that goes on behind closed doors, but the sight of bear ass in any public area is catastrophic and must be dealt with to save us from hell or something. For all those who "care", please turn your sticks and stones on sex industry, drug abuse (legal and illegal), corruption, child abuse and other burning issues. When I want to take a swim in my birthday suit, I will find the place and way right under your nose. By the way, nudism is beneficial in many ways, there is nothing offending about it and Americans should start living the freedom instead of just talking about it. This is not something that needs to be regulated, we don't need comities and governing bodies to allow it or protect it from barbaric "morality police" and freaks who make it their business to be "offended" by anything they don't approve of, stalking us as we try to live in sink with nature.
I'll tell you people what offends me, sitting on a beech, in the park or eating lunch in a McDonald and having somebody’s dog lick its but 2 feet away from me or sniff my stuff on the way to wherever and owner hardly making an effort to contain his/her fur ball,.............that offends me. Yeah I love animals too, but there has to be more balance in what we all can and should put up with.

I understand what you are saying vic. In this age of not wanting to offend anyone, its hard to say or do anything without doing so. It is like everyone is so thin skinned. If nudity is so offensive to some people then we should have more areas to be nude so we won't be offended by non nudists!

I'm surprised you can find a McDonalds in the U.S. where a dog is allowed in! American (or at least "USAvian") animal laws and nudity laws seem very similar - keep them out of here and they won't be a "problem". Most other countries are more concerned about what what people (or their animals) do, than their mere prescence. Well behaved nudists and dogs are accepted; bad behavious is what is not tolerated.
This seems strange compared to the way Americans fight for their rights in other areas. In Texas, people cannot be denied entrance to a park because they have a gun, but they will be arrested if they are not wearing clothes. It's easy to see which "weapon" scares lawmakers most. [Another escapee from the pun thread]
Cheers!

Many McDonalds and other restaurants here in California have outside seating areas, sort of European yet far less effective or desirable. What I meant is to portray the scenario where people really do stupid things as letting their pets roam freely among other people and interfere with their activities, usually they might say something like ...."he doesn't bite" and leave it at that. Why should a dog that just lick it's but be sniffing my bag and why am I not supposed to react is a puzzle to be resolved. Americans have overANALyzed everything to death and yet there are laws and social behaviors that suck in every way, too many laws that contradict one another in meaning and purpose, it's a minefield of struggles to hold on to, gain ground, or induce once will and preference on to another. Things stay the same only until opposing side can master the retaliation plan and carry out the attack. Because many things are now etched in stone, we face such scrutiny on local levels that it becomes personal bottle between individuals and small communities, prompting more laws and ordinances that turn everything in to a prison, you better be out of sight or well informed about where you are about to loose your panties.

I think the reason eating establishments like MickyD's and others do not allow nudists or pets is for health reasons.
