Murders in the UK did increase after the gun ban, from 891 in 2001/2 to 1048 in 2002/3, but this figure includes 172 people killed by Dr. Harold Shipman, who murdered his elderly patients for their money, so the "ordinary" total would be 876.
By way of comparison, in 2002, 16,110 people were murdered in the USA. The US does have a much larger population than the UK, about 290 million vs. 59 million or about 5 times as many people (and 18 times as many murders).
Cheers!

David I was reading an article about two women who filled a complaint against a nude beach in Texas. The women told the judge how horrible it was to have to see the people walking around stark naked all the time. The judge looked at the women and said, "There is controlled access there, you have to pay a parking fee, and climb down a cliff to get to the nude beach. How can you see these naked people?" "Judge you have to take your boat up into the cove!" Judge, "Case dismissed!" True storry.

Reminds me of a story I read in the 70's...
A Southern Baptist minister filed a complaint against a women who was sunbathing nude on her own property. When the judge enquired of the minister how long it took him to determine she was naked, he replied "about an hour". It was for the minister that they didn't have Peeping Tom laws in place back then!
Cheers!

Lol Good one David. I think it was in "The Seven year itch", I might have the wrong movie, but Marrilyn Monroe was sleeping nude in the bath tub because it was so hot in New York City. The faucet in the bath tub was dripping and keeping her awake. She stuck her big toe into the faucet to stop the drip, and her toe became stuck. She called the plumber, and it took him an hour to get her toe unstuck.

Topless and bare butts are legal in Hawaii, but total nudity in public is not. However, only the genitals must be covered. I wear a pouch that has a waistband and a pouch only. The pouch tucks under everything and stays in place. That's legal. Last weekend my wife and I saw a guy who made a bag out of dark brown women's nylons and sewed some elastic around it. He slips it over his goodies and the elastic holds it on. No straps at all, but legal on any beach in Hawaii. Of course we were all on an "unofficial" nude beach at the time, and people don't stare like they might at a normal public beach. We have seen someone wearing a pouch like mine on Waikiki Beach, but it wasn't me...

I can't understand the necessity for the pouch. I mean if people are going to wear something that skimpy, why go to the bother. Same with some of the tiny bikinis that women wear, $100 for a hand full of cloth.

At this point in time, I just wish it were legal to walk out and get the newspaper and your mail nude.

Kim, it's a matter of being legal when necessary. We seldom have cops at our beach, but when they show the pouch is perfectly legal, while nothing at all is not. I normally hang it on my chair unless it's needed. Yeah, it's kind of a hassle, but we have few options on Oahu.
