Finally, after being observed naked at least once by each neighbor, they invited the neighbors over for a swim and dinner. After some adult beverages, they mentioned that they liked to swim sans suits. Both neighbors acknowledged that they knew that and didn't care. One asked that if they had guests and wanted to avoid a problem they would let them know.

Later that evening with the lights off, all went skinny-dipping. For the rest of the summer the ladies sunbathed naked at least twice a week.

My personal experience is that newbys will more likely skinny-dip with friends in the dark at a home rather than venture by themselves to CO or naturists site.

Any survey I have read indicates that a much higher percentage of adults have skinny-dipped than have visited a naturist area.

This seems to be one small step in educating the populace re. nudism/naturism.
Hopefully it might produce a 'dominoe' effect

We live in a rural area of Oregon, despite assumptions that it always rains here, it's actually quite hot and dry all summer. We are nude as much as possible outside, and have been "caught" once by our neighbors washing the cars. To Hell with them! We're discrete!

Just wanted to share that if you have telephone poles in your back yard that are accessed via an alley, be aware that the phoneman may see more than you intended with your six or seven foot wall!
Same goes for college dorms that are private from ground level but very revealing when working on the pole.

We don't have a pool. We said, when looking for this house, that we wanted - not a pool, but a neighbor with a pool; they get the maintenence headache, we get to swim occasionally. That didn't turn out, but still...
if we had a pool, I would want it to be on property far enough from busybodies that I need not worry. SO, after I win the next powerball, I'm looking for that 100-acre estate with the solar-powered house and spring-fed pool. If you see it, let me know.

My home has a pool, I built tall (8+ feet) fences and it is now to the point that people could only see if they really went out of their way, with a ladder. I therefore no longer worry about people spying. One neighbhor actually objected to the fences, she could no longer keep my pool under seruvalence. It has been great to have my own pool and be able to use it nude. I would encourage all with a pool to do so, it is your home to enjoy.

One of our neighbors had seen both of us out and about in our yard in the nude numerous times. We had 6'+ block walls all around our property but the one fence on her side.

She had made funny/joking comments about our attire or lack of while in our backyard and when the opportunity arose to build that wall, we jumped at it.

She was a bit upset about the heigth but when I told her that the option was "high enough for our privacy and for her protection from our naked bodies", she stopped complaining.

This past summer, the vegetation that screened our pool from our neighbor's home thinned a bit, making it easier to see our pool and our swimming and sunning sans suits.

We are on very good terms with our neighbors--share upkeep of some common road, watch each other's property when out of town and so on.

Three weeks ago,our neighbors asked if we would mind their replanting of the vegetation mentioned above--at their expense. We said of course please go ahead, and offered to split the cost.

My point is that good neighbors are far more important than the privacy screen itself. They know our preferences and respect them. In turn, we appreciate their desire not to have to look at us. Meeting at the mailbox remains an exchange of pleasantries and catching up on our respective kids.

Good fences make good neighbors? The best thing about high barriers around swimming pools is that one's insurance man is generally well-pleased. And that can be the first reason presented for having erected a fence.

If your neighbor is truly respectful of the discretion you exhibit (pun intended), wouldn't it be best to just speak about your nudity practices with them? If they tell you they are going to restock the property line vegetation, does that mean they approve (and want to ensure your privacy if they have guests) or disapprove? Mind reading may be fraught with misunderstanding.

Used to have a pool many years ago...no privacy fence, so I could only use the pool at night. Would love to have a private backyard like many on this site.

Moved from the home I had commented on. New house....New Pool! Only one neighbor this time and they've seen us out there sunning and skinny dipping.

No cops, no complaints....I think it's all good!
