So I guess it's bad form for me to get completely naked at my dentist? That explains a lot.

Indeed, but it might be a concern if you were in for a prostate check? Just joking!!

The post of 10/26/16 was Jenni. I,Nb, had to have surgery a couple of weeks ago, in the groin area. Jenni was in the pre-op room with me when a nurse came in with an electric razor. Jen and I both got a grin on our face as the nurse told me what she was about to do and that the pubic hair growing back would really itch. Well, she removed the gown and much to her surprise NO HAIR. She blushed a little then we all had a good laugh. We told her we had both been that way forever and she told us she saw few people shaved, then she bent down to Jenni and told her that she just had a very narrow landing strip. Nb

Just went to a new dermatologist. The first two, never did a complete check. This time I said up front that I have no tan lines and get sun allover. finally got a 100% exam with no issues.

I get a 100% check up also, but since I had to have That biopsy on my penis, the young girls in the office all know me.

Actually had quite a few doctors appointments recently due to a health problem. Sadly the most the doctors asked me to take off so far has been my shirt. I've lost some kg's and am fitter than I've been for years and the tan this year is great so this was a little dis-appointing. The nurses were nicely impressed tho which I should know, I'm married to one and they do take notice and talk.
I have some more appointments yet so I'm waiting to drop this line some time, it might be more likely being cardio & neurological tests, the previous ones were some of these but facial surgeons and ENT specialists so the opportunity was limited. Fingers crossed.
Cheers, SBN.

I had a biopsy done on a lymph node in my groin area today, which f course required me to be naked. I find out the results next week. I hope I do not have cancer, but the doctor thinks that I do. Prior to doing the biopsty they did an ultra sound. They told me that if I wanted to I could go behind a curtain to get undressed, and come out wearing a sheet. However, I saw no purpose in that since they would all be seeing me nude during the ultrasound and then the procedure, so I just undressed there in the room with the nurse and the ultrasound technician. I was given a sheet to cover up with while waiting for them to start, though that seemed pointless as well. Besides being pointless, getting my pants off while standing behind the curtain, would have been difficult at best, because of a problem I have with my leg, which usually makes it much easier to get dressed sitting down. I unfortunately did end up having an erection while the lady technician was using the ultrasound, and holding in the area, next to my penis. There was not a lot I could do about it, and she did not mention it, though she could not have helped but see it. She is probably used to seeing occasional erections as part of her job. Fortunately it did not last long, and went away fairly quickly.

Another test recently, this time a CT scan. In the prep area the nurse had me strip off and put a gown on, then pull id down to expose my chest. We were talking and found she did here training one group behind my wife and she knows here and her sister. I had the feeling I was being checked out just out of interest and I didn't care, sort of enjoyed it.
Hospitals do have a funny approach to this stuff but I guess its just all the hang ups people have. There was an older lady in the waiting area beside me when I had a gown on with my butt hanging out, she was dressed together with her son / carer. Another woman who had a Scandinavian accent and she was like me and did not seem to mind. Maybe they staff work out who will cope and who will not.
Many nudists here express the same sentiments and really if more people did what we do maybe it would remove some of the problems / hang-ups and take some of the powere away from the media.
Cheers, SBN.

Given the nightmares that medical professionals get to deal with on a daily basis -- shaving, tanlines or jewelry isn't on anybody's radar. Does the word "prolapse" mean anything to you? Next....

One would not think that a person seeking a profession in the fire department/fire suppression and rescue, would have many of these hang ups but I assure you, there are many that do. I can't tell you how many times a young firefighter or even a seasoned firefighter, man or woman (but mostly men), would look to me, as the Captain, and say ... "you're more comfortable with this nudity, will you take over?" As a firefighter/paramedic, I was routinely given the task to assist naked patients or victims ... of course unless it was some very pretty woman, then the idiots began falling all over themselves wanting to take care of them.
The idea was to get these fellow firefighters to regain focus on the situation, the problem, they were called to rectify or assist with, not focus in on the nudity. As a Captain, I had to counsel and sometimes reprimand firefighters for their handling of a particular situation that involved nudity. Being a drama queen or trying to be funny during an emergency situation was not something they wanted to do when I was on scene or on duty.
Medicine, routine or emergent, is not for the weak in mind and heart. Too many young people get into the medical profession because they looking for an easy job, one that pays well and you can get the weekends off if you're working in a Dr's office or a lab that closes on weekends. I'm reminded of a movie back in the late 70's or early 80's where a doctor asks a med student that is seeking a summer job at the local hospital. The doctor asks him during their brief, hallway interview ... "are you poor or committed?" When the med student says "he's poor," the doctor says, "come back when you've change your mind."
The fire service and law enforcement is no different. Don't get me wrong ... I respect law enforcement... BUT ... to automatically say or pontificate the virtues of all cops is complete BS. There are guys and gals in both the fire service and law enforcement that do not belong in those professions, yet ... they are there, they are working, they are not helping people as they should and to support these people just because of the uniform they wear or the badge they pin on, is disrespectful to all of those that do that job for the right reasons.
I wonder what will happen to us as we continue to age and we are faced with more and more younger doctors and medical professionals that have an issue with simple nudity. Will they never look at your body and exam you completely so they know exactly what they are dealing with and what your problems might be? Scary to think that's where we are headed.

Firey of FireProf, agreed. There are lots of nurses in my family, on both sides and they just get on with it with naked bodies. They cover people up partially to maintain their modesty and are respectful of the sick or injured, I've seen them in action with an injured man on the beach. They might have a joke later but they are not scared off or afraid, its all part of the job.
I also have a daughter doing a nursing degree and another doing para-medicine. They are doing their degrees at University as distinct from my wife, her sisters and a sister of mine who were all trained in nursing hospitals, ie. trained on the job. This older way of training threw them straight into it and they learned quickly. My daughters have to go on placement to a hospital for a few weeks at a time and while they learn it's not the same but hopefully the full time trained staff at these hospitals apply the same fearless approach of dealing with the sick or injured and not worrying about the body, after all, we all have one and its either one model or another.
The experience you relate makes me think of the newly renovated change rooms at my local public pool. Once all showers in the mens change rooms were open, now they are lockable cubicles. Some of the young guys you see in the change rooms are afraid to be seen unless sporting a partial erection to look bigger and I think that reflects all the stuff they have access to on the internet, they seem to struggle with being average like the vast majority within the bell curve of life.
Cheers, better stop my rant. SBN.

I had something happen today at a doctor visit today that seemed silly. They suggested I take my pants off, leaving my shirt and underwear on, and put on a gown. That was fine with me. I wouldn't be worried about having a gown on or not with my underwear on, or if necessary even without underwear. What seemed strange was they had me put it on the reverse of the way gowns are usually worn, with the opening in front rather than back. It seemed particularly odd since they would be working on the back of my legs and the gown would be partly in the way. Afterwards I was laying there on my back with gown open with the gown not hiding anything. They mentioned doing the same thing the next time I come back, since what I am there for is easier without pants. That is fine with me, but I may suggest skipping the gown. The whole idea of the gown seemed silly and a waste of time today, especially since I was wearing underwear and a shirt.
