Posted - 03/06/2004 : 12:01:52 PM I might raise some hackles here but I've seen so many thong swimwear, for men and women, for sale on E-bay and other web sites to wonder where are people wearing them? Are they becoming popular at textile beaches or are they just worn in the backyard pool? Personally if I had to be at a beach were I had to wear something it would be a thong. |

That is one of the things I noticed about swimwear the last time I went to the local Pool. My trunks were nearly immodest (in that setting). I wasn't the only one however. I am convinced that when trying on swimwear, few people look at their back sides...
Also, it is somewhat suprising what swimwear will do when wet. |

Posted - 04/10/2004 : 08:43:35 AM I hope we're not appearing to be judgmental, but rather making observations. I agree with Kim, it's more a matter judging the wearer's taste than the person himself, if I follow her meaning.

Randy,I wasn't pointing fingers first of all it just seems odd that we are a supportive lot, and open minded about alot of things. Except when it comes to beachwear! Just an observation. Dave... |

Posted - 04/10/2004 : 01:32:07 AM Several points come to mind.
First, I have to remember that joke about wanting "to see her in a bikini." Excellent joke, Bornnude!
As far as styles go, some may attract attention to specific points, but the best styles compliment the shape by following the natural curves, in my opinion. And I hate the look and feel of baggy swim trunks myself. When they are wet, they are klingy and I think they show even more detail than bikini brief types. I don't think I'd wear a thong on the beach myself though, because I think they look showy-more so than nudity, actually.
Dave, I know what you're saying and you're right, we shouldn't be judgmental. But I think in all honesty, we all judge in our own minds at least, if we think someone could be using better style judgment when we see them. But I wouldn't advocate teasing anyone or looking down on them for what they do or wear. Most, if not all of us have commited some kind of social or fashion faux pas that earned us less than complimentary thoughts and/or comments from others. People are not necessarilly the kindest animals on earth and it would make life a little easier for people if they were realistic about their appearance. I hope we're not appearing to be judgmental, but rather making observations. I agree with Kim, it's more a matter judging the wearer's taste than the person himself, if I follow her meaning.

Posted - 04/09/2004 : 7:55:00 PM If we don't like to be judged by people who don't know us , why do we judge people we don't know? Referring to the thongs and people who should not wear them. Dave... |

Posted - 04/09/2004 : 1:25:38 PM Fashions in men's swimwear differ dramatically across the Atlantic. On both sides, being naked happens occording to local customs, and posers and restricted nudists wear tiny thongs, etc.
In Europe, mens' swim trunks are briefs (Speedo is just one brand), designed to be street legal and practical to swim in. North Americans tend to wear shorts, which are baggy and take forever to dry - some fashions look as though they are designed to avoid sunburn of the knee!
Cheers!

Posted - 04/09/2004 : 11:29:54 AM bornnude, I agree with you about some women looking much better nude, than wearing a swimsuit. But I would also include some men in that, myself included. I can't imagine myself in a tiny Speedo, like we've all probably seen some guys wear. |

Posted - 04/09/2004 : 07:58:17 AM -- Slightly Off Topic Warning --
One of my constant irritations are the "Co-ed Naked <name your sport>" tee-shirts. I do not know why I am bothered by them. I have nearly walked up to people wearing them and asked them to prove it.
One day, while driving around I saw a bumper sticker on a car which read. "I look better naked". I nearly asked the driver to prove that one as well.
The thing is, depending on what they were wearing, it very well may have been true! |
