In our class we talked about this and apparently everyone has a different opinion about if it's good or bad, but no one is clear on why everyone should listen to them.
I don't see why it would really be better, I think I heard a while ago on the news that there was really no benefit as people had previously thought. All this information is questionable.
Also, from what I understood in most other countries they just don't do that unless there's some very serious problem.
In my opinion it seems wrong to do that to someone, have them grow up then wonder what it may have been like to be the way they were. The next thing they'll think of is removing people's eyelids.crazy.
Oh and I've also heard of female circumcision but I have no idea of what that is.
Just something to think about.

we guys have little choice on circumcision. its a decision made by parents at birth. some religions require it. maybe someone familiar with the jewish tradition and the reasons for it can explain. as far as female circumcision, have also heard of it, but someone else is going to have to explain that procedure (ouch)too.

It depends on who and what case people want to make as to which sources are quoted. There are studies that verify each to be the more beneficial.
In the Old Testament, (I'm paraphrasing)Abraham made a covenant with G-d stating that to set you and your decendants apart, the male child is to be circumcized.
No matter what the country, you will find those who are of the Jewish faith circumcised.
One of our club members as an adult needed to be circumcised for medical reasons. He says that he likes it better. Regards, Cheri

I am interested in knowing why circumcision is such a debated topic in North America, I grew up in Europe, and it is not really an issue at all, although I believe on the whole it is less prevalent. I came over to Canada in 95, and I think I have heard more about this topic since then, than in my previous 30 or so years :)

Female circumcision is removing the head or cutting the clitoris. This has been done in a number of countries in the MidEast & Africa and has become illegal there. The reason it is/was done is to prevent the woman from enjoying an intimate relationship.

I didn't have a choice obviously, but I like being not circumsized. It provides a lot more sensitivity. I hear that many men who were circumsized have less sensitivity than those who were not. This also gives me two looks. The limp covered look and the erect uncovered look. The only benefit that I hear of getting it done, it that since it can get warm and moist in there, there is a slightly higher chance of building bacteria. I say, keep it clean, and you'll have no problems.

William, I've witnessed a circumcision. My godson did not scream any more than when his diaper was changed. How do you know it's less sensitive after circucision? I have a nudist friend who had it done as an adult and says otherwise. My 57-yr. old husband is circumcised and has never suffered from rashes as an adult.
I may be misunderstanding what you're saying since I'm not sure where the end are of your sentences.
Could you please punctuate your sentences, it's not real easy to follow what you're saying. Regards, Cheri

I,m circumcised and I also have no sensitivity problem. Believe me....my wife can still sent me through the roof!!! Also, today when relatives and friends of ours are asked about circumcising their new born sons, all have elected to do it mainly because they don't want their sons to look different among their friends when they mature.I was a bit surprised because of all the new publicity against it. In fact Health Insurers stopped covering circumcision a few years ago,but reinstated coverage after heavy adverse reaction amongst their insureds. At least in our area,Eastern USA,it looks as though circumcision of new born males will continue into the future.Chic

I am uncircumsized, but since I was a teenager I have kept my foreskin pulled back. Now I have the best of both worlds. A clean penis and some extra skin that aids in ma******tion! Regards from, lovethesun

I'm circumsized, and I have not problems with rashes, sensativity, or other issues. All other male members (no pun intended) are also circumsized, they have not had any complaints about being circumsized.

The argument that being circumcised will put one's child in the majority is not always correct. Some locations in the US have less than 50% circumcism rate. If you know what your son wants to have done 18 years ahead of time and it happens to be circumcism, then go for it. Otherwise, don't decide for him, because only he will know, and you deciding makes it impossible for him to ever decide.
