My first public nude experience was at the San Onofre State Beach, Trail 6 two weeks ago. COMPLETELY EXHILERATING!!!!!! I have been back several times since and plan to return often. The beach is very quiet and no one bothers you. I did not realize how being nude was so relaxing and I just enjoy it so much. Next weekend I am trying a nudist resort.

An Author Spends Three Weeks in the Nude Researching Her Caribbean Mystery Murder in the Raw
I first visited the island of St. Martin off a Queen Mary cruise, a Valentine's Day surprise from my husband. Half a day was not sufficient to sample all the charms of this Caribbean paradise: the food, the people, the Treasure Island appeal of the turquoise bays, not to mention the white sand beaches stretching invitingly beneath gently swaying coconut palms. Uniquely, St. Martin is split into a Dutch southern half and a French northern half, subject to Dutch and French law respectively, each side retaining its national language and customs, though English is widely spoken.
So intrigued were we by what we had seen on our brief visit that we returned for three weeks that same summer, this time flying in from Miami. Located midway in the Caribbean chain of islands, St. Martin enjoys perennial summer, with an average temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Trade winds cool things off and combat humidity--a pleasant change from an oppressively hot and muggy July in Southwest Florida where we live.
With no idea yet for a storyline, I maintained a journal while staying at Orient Beach in the French-speaking half of St. Martin, arguably the finest beach on the island, and where clothing is optional and mostly dispensed with altogether. Although the naturist resort featured in Murder in the Raw is largely fictitious, I set it in the same area, and drew from the local sights and attractions, namely the butterfly farm and horse riding ranch. In my journal, I kept notes of weather patterns and tides, descriptions of wildlife and reef sharks, and amusing or noteworthy incidents. Like my protagonist, I traveled around the island in a rented Jeep and took a ferry to neighboring St. Barts--in my case solely for exploration and research, whereas my literary sleuth Rex Graves, a Scottish barrister, is pursuing a case.
In the novel, Rex is pleased to learn that it was a Scots captain in the Dutch navy-- John Philips--who founded Philipsburg, the Dutch capital of "Sint Maarten," in 1763. The port capital teems with tourists when the cruise ships dock. For casinos, duty-free shopping, and night life your best bet is Philipsburg. Also on the Dutch side is Princess Juliana International Airport (named after the crown princess of the Netherlands), the planes flying in thunderously low over the beach to land. The French capital, Marigot, whose outdoor market is depicted in my novel, retains a relaxed West Indies flavor. Restaurants on the French side are on a par with any in Paris. There are 30 alone in the small gastronomic town of Grand Case close to Orient Beach.
History relates how Christopher Columbus spied the island on November 11, 1493, and named it after the feast day of Saint Martin of Tours in France. The 37 square miles of land have been home to cannibalistic Carib Indians, sugar-plantation slaves, desperate convicts, rum-swilling pirates, and acquisitive Spanish, Dutch, French, English, and Portuguese forces in turn, belying St. Martin's new moniker of The Friendly Island, where everywhere you see smiling faces welcoming new incursions—of tourists.
With so much inspiring material and intriguing possibilities, St. Martin became the setting for the second novel in the Rex Graves mystery series. But what might my sleuth be doing there in the first place? Simply enough, it is at the request of the new owners of the Swanmere Manor Hotel in England (Christmas is Murder) that Rex Graves flies to the tropical island, all expenses paid, to help solve the case of a missing actress, which the French authorities have abandoned for reasons of their own. Much to his dismay, he finds that he has been put up at the exclusive nudist resort where Sabine Durand disappeared. A Scots Presbyterian and several pounds overweight, he almost turns tail for home.
Murder in the Raw is very P.G. in spite of the nudist aspect. I might add that going about starkers takes a bit of getting used to, but I was with my husband, which made it easier to parade about as Adam and Eve. I discovered that naturism is a culture advocated by individuals all over the world who believe nudity is healthy and natural. Certainly, swimming naked in the sea is a very liberating feeling. Plus, you can get an all-over tan.
It was a once in a lifetime experience for me—and my sleuth!

It was many years ago on a Saturday I was going fishing down at the river, when I came across a man who sun bathing nude. He wasn't expecting for anyone to walk up on him and seemed a little surprised to see me there. When I saw him laying there nude, it was like ok he's nude now what do I do. I said something like hello and he said hello. Then I didn't know what to do so I just started talking and he invited me to sit down, he didn't make an attempt to cover himself. And in a little while I started to feel funning having clothes on while he sat there nude. So I asked him if he minded if I got nude and he said no. I spent the next few hours nude talking to a nude man that I did not know. And from that time on I was nude every time I went to the river. The only difference is now, I leave the fishing pole at home, as I find I like being nude outside more enjoyable than fishing.

It wasn't my first experience nude in a group, but I think it qualifies. In 1989, I was at a business meeting in a small town north of Sacramento and admired the Yuba river crossings on the way to the meeting. Early afternoon, on my return, I noticed a group of cars parked next to a bridge over the river, so I decided to stop and follow the trail to the river. Not planning on anything other than a business meeting in this trip, I hadn't brought any hiking, swimming, or sunning gear (sunscreen). I hiked down in my button down shirt, nothing else. I found a small pool in the river before finding anybody else, so I made myself at home. I placed the shirt on a boulder and was enjoying the afternoon sun, when a young woman approached the other side of the river and disrobed. I was not sure whether she had noticed my presence or not, but when we did make eye contact, there was no sign of surprise. A group of about 8 - 10 people joined her and froliced in the water and sunshine. The group included at least 3 generations of one family and their friends. I was welcomed as one of their own. I found it very difficult to put my clothes on over my freshly sunburnt skin, so I didn't, until I stopped for gas. It was then that I realized that the soles of my feet were covered with blisters from the hot boulders. Ouch!! I have been seeking out similar opportunities ever since. But now I always carry a towel, sunscreen and sandles.

I'm not sure how to pick one experience as my first, because I've had nudist experience over my life that didn't really seem like nudist experiences.
At about 8, my father, uncle and myself spent a weekend at a "fishing hole' - no cabin, but a mobile home out in the woods. On the second day of heat and zero fish catching, we went for a swim to my surprise, in the nude. It was great, it was exhilarating and it made my dad and uncle seem so 'wild and cool'. That happened a few times over a couple of years.
My father passed away when i was 12. That following summer, my mom let me spend about two months with my uncle, aunt, cousins to sort of let me regroup as she was dealing with a lot of the aftermath. My uncle/aunt weren't nudists, nor even clothing optional - just relaxed. They had a pool and skinny dipping was the norm (two cousins, boy and girl younger than me). Many times we would wander in the house still nude, which after all my experiences outside, seemed newly exhilarating.
My mother and I moved to a home in a crowded suburb two years later, but it had a privacy fence and nice little in-ground pool. I would get home from school about two hours before she came home from work. Naturally, I skinny-dipped constantly, and once fall and winter arrived, would go nude a few hours every day inside. The following summer when we opened the pool, I was always allowed to have friends over, and two of my closest friends (male) started skinny dipping. There was always an extra sense of freedom when going nude with others.
I eventually started to boldly swim in the early morning, to start the day the best possible way, knowing my mother was still in the house. It wasn't so much that I was being more bold, more that I was simply more comfortable, and wanted not to be 'sneaking' around in the nude. She saw me skinny dipping several times, as the kitchen window looked right out to the pool and backyard. At first, I was naturally nervous, but she never made a big issue of it, asking me that first time had I outgrown my swimming trunks as I would come in wrapped only in a towel. One afternoon after school was out, I came home from summer league softball and she was out by the pool. I just thought 'what the heck' and went out with my towel and jumped in. It was a non-event, because once I left the pool and sat across from her, we started talking about my dad, and her telling me how he loved going nude. It may have been the first, really genuine conversation about my dad we had since he died.
The next morning, I stopped at the kitchen and asked if she wanted to join me for a swim. She said she would be out later and she did. After what was bluntly a lot of nervous energy diving and swimming in the pool, everything was just tranquil and completely open. We spent about four hours talking about my dad, our family, friends, then movies, music and things I would never think to just 'chat' about with my mother. It was sort of an overcast day, and a drizzle put an end to the time that had flew by to our amazement. I said I hated we had to go in, and she just picked up my towel with her stuff and went inside. We spent the rest of the day inside in a new routine of liberation.
Once I got my driver's license, and her work became more demanding, we rarely spent time together, and even when we did, it was sadly inconvenient to relax in the nude it seemed, so it sort of just stopped other than rare times or early in the morning routine.
So, there are three moments in time for me, and I don't even consider them my first experience. That would be at college, my fourth weekend in school, but that's another story and I've all ready defined the concept of 'long-winded'.

Our first nudist experience was last week on Wednesday. We went to Apollo beach down here in Florida. It's a couple of hours away from us but we were more than willing to make the drive. We got there about 7:30 and the parking lot was actually half empty. It surprised us from what we heard. We stayed until about 2. While we were there, a few people talked to us, mostly warning us about the rip tide. We mostly ignored them because we weren't going out that deep. I was impressed with how concerned they were for others' safety. We played in the surf and read books while we were there. We collected a lot of shells. We really liked being naked. At first it was kind of weird but we got over it pretty quick. It was much more comfortable than having a wet swimsuit every time we got out of the water. We had a lot of fun and that was our first nudist experience. Tomorrow we will be going to Cypress Cove in Kissimmee. We hope it's going to be a lot of fun.

While my wife and i had had several opportunities to skinny dip the first "real" experience with nudism was on a trip to St. Martin. We found our way to Cupecoy beach and made our way down to the sand. We knew it was a nude beach and passed several couples both dressed and undressed. She started out topless while I stripped off completely. Just like everyone has said, no head turning or pointing. It was a great feeling of freedom. We ended up coming back several times that week. We did make it over to Orient but it seemed a little too overexposed with the cruise ship traffic. Also enjoyed Plum Bay and Long Bay in the buff. The highlight of the nude experience was the day at Cupecoy when we shopped and bought some jewelry from a beach vendor while completely naked. To this day, whenever she wears that necklace and bracelet, we smile and remember Cupecoy!

Seallin,
Apollo beach was our first time nude in public about 10 years ago. The first time Angie only went topless but went all the way the next time. After that she was hooked and we have been going back every year since.
We just regret we didn't do it sooner.

I don't know if this is considered a first time or not but myself and my wife have been going nude in the house more and more and recently we have been relaxing on our back deck late at night as there is only one house that can see us from there and there are no outside lights close by we are pretty safe as he goes to bed early. We plan a trip to a local landed club soon when the weather is nice and we both have the weekend off (Lonestar Resort near Navasota Tx.) the wife is still a little nervous so wish me luck on it being a good weekend that she enjoys as well.

Good luck Pop .... we hope Mom has a great time. It's our bet that she will love it and be hooked, then she will be the one dragging you along with her.
I'm being serious when Mrs. Diger took the plunge she was hooked. Now when she gets home you have to watch out for the flying clothes, it can be dangerous .... LOL

I am a male in my mid-twenties now. I have been a naturist even before I was a teenager. I remember when I was 12 I used to cycle out of the very small town I used to stay in, and in a secluded spot, I would take of all my clothes. It used to feel so liberating and exhilarating to feel the sun and air on my skin!
But these have all been very short-lived experiences (at most 10 minutes). Most of these would be on the hill next to town or in some plantations/field/forests outside of town. You see, I live in India and here, the society is very conservative in these matters. So even at the hint of any sound, I would quickly cover up.
Majority of my naturist experience has been indoors between the sheets. There is one experience which was out of this world though, and that is what I would like to share here.
I had visited a state which is famous for its beaches. I used to stay there before (and that is the state where I used to have my little naturist adventures), but I dont stay there any more. I had simply gone there on a vacation. It was during off-season times (May), and when I was driving back to my current city, I was alone. I knew of a supposedly good beach which I had never visited before and it was just a 15 minute detour for me. I thought I'd give it a try.
When I reached the beach (around 10 in the morning), I found it completely empty. Just imagine a 2 kilometer stretch of sand and sea all to yourself. I walked to the far end of the beach where a stream meets the sea, and off came everything. I sunbathed for more than 45 minutes. Then I saw some people approaching the beach and got dressed. It was over - but this was definitely one heaven of an experience. All alone on a beach for 45 minutes without anything on! Bliss.
For me, naturism is all about getting myself in touch with nature. Thats the reason I might not be comfortable in a group or at designated naturist beaches or resorts. There is also the issue of embarrassing arousals. I would be happiest in my naturist state with myself and maybe a partner.
When I was reaching puberty, some of my naturist cycling trips turned into ... well .. you-know .. what guys do alone after they reach puberty! I do not regret that either. No place like in the lap of nature to do that too. Having said that, I remember that I used to stay without clothes long after I did *it* .. thats when I was convinced that I was a true naturist and not just a pervert.
Cheers to naturism!

Went to Lone Star Resort Sat. and had a great time everyone was very friendly and welcomed us even before we removed our clothes and also a friend from work lives there and when he got home came down to the pool and visited and then showed us his home. When we returned to the pool area we got undressed and hopped in the hot tub with him and visited and then moved to the pool (which was COLD after the hot tub). But we stayed until we Had to leave and Mom was planning when to go back as we were leaving. So a great trip and a great experience that we will be repeating soon.

My first time was just yesterday! I went for the day to Cedar Creek Park in SC. It was great. Jay and Melissa gave me a tour of their park and then i disrobed and had a wonderful time. I walked down to the creek and hung out at the pool. I met a lot of people. Everyone was So nice and friendly. I figured that being the "new guy" that it would take time for everyone to welcome me, But that was not the case. I was welcomed by all. I hated to leave.
The next time i go i will stay for the weekend!!!!
