Ha! Well, of course, it doesn't have to be a "beach with surf"! I was really thinking of just some locally convenient public space available to young people -- maybe a corner of some large park, or one side of a popular swimming hole, or a backyard area at a summer-dormant school or sports facility? Sun and "tons of sand" sounds good enough, as long as you've arranged for an official umbrella! YNAI just offers an interesting branding opportunity for young people to organize their own safe "free spirit" spaces where they can shake off old-folks' neuroses and do their own thing naturally.

My 2 cents is social media now and advertising does little to attract younger crowds into nudism. Think of this when was last time you bought a Seventeen Magazine or GQ or Details etc and find a advertisement for AANR or a local nude resort etc. Its ok to advertise 12 pages for smoking, drinking etc but not for a half page for AANR. If I saw these ads more often if I wasn't a nudist and a freind told me they were a nudist I would be less suprised by it. So the first true step is for AANR to advertise outside of their own newsletter that already goes to nudists anyway. Man up and pay for a half page ad talking about the next event where all are welcome like a nationwide openhouse at every AANR affiliated resort where anyone who brings in the ad gets a free day nude at the resort which is another way to sell them on the idea of joining the resort and AANR. Allow for more local teens or young adults to be an AANR rep in their city even if there is no nude resort but maybe a nude beach. Provide them with the flyers, stickers etc so they can help promote it to other young adults.

Excellent points, renobiker! But of course you don't have to wait for AANR -- have you seen what the Young Naturists America group in New York have been doing? Why not start start a chapter in your town and leverage the common publicity and social media connections?

Agde---I know what they are and do etc but its still out of the public view unless someone is looking for it they wont see it but if you pay to advertise in a well read magazine that almost all walks of life will see it then your still not trying to get it more mainstream, imagine what kind of exposure you get by putting a half page ad in people vs putting one in the AANR times...

yes, most of the nudist magazines/organizations are "preaching to the choir." When in Arizona recently we happened upon a publication called "Sun" by NudistUSA.com. We didn't necessarily agree with their ad policy (some seemed a bit lifestyle oriented), but we did like their strategy of getting nudism in front of people that would normally never encounter it. The magazine is a tabloid-type, with fairly high production values and get this: No Nudity. The idea is that since there is no nudity, it can be placed in businesses and stands where nudist pubs are banned. There are some "almost" nude photos, and when you read it it's pretty obvious they are promoting the nudist lifestyle. The important thing is that it gets in the hands of people who might be curious about nudity, but know nothing of the AARN, Naturist Society, etc. Your thoughts?

Nudesun----I agree that is the whole point to put it among other textile based magazine racks in stores so someone grabs it asking themselves, What is this? They look at it possibly show interest maybe not but it defeats the purpose to only show a nudist lifetstyle magazine only to current nudists. I looked at this magazine online version of it and it sure is heavy with ads more than nudist related articles, stories etc. It is something I would enjoy seeing on newstands for sure.

Randy, I'm with you, I'm a 60 year old male now and there has been times when I've been talking to young folks and many of em say (when they find out I'm a nudist) eeeeew I don't wanna see old folks naked....thats nasty and many other similar comments.

I'd like to see more age diversity myself. It does seem a bit lop-sided. But what is young? I'm not old but a lot of people your age think I am. My 13 year old thinks my 18 year old is. It's all relative. And what are we to do to recruit younger people? We can't make them come. It probably isn't easy for older folks to plan activities for people of younger age groups. The way I see it, they should come and bring their friends and make their own fun. If they are with familiar company, they will feel more comfortable and start their own fun. I think then the few will become more, and more will become many.
