Could be part of the problem is that younger people see the organised nudist clubs and resorts as irrelevant to their lifestyle. One of Western Society's strongest rules says you must wear clothes. Nudism removes that stricture. You can have the freedom to take off your clothes, go naked among other people, friends and strangers alike. But to enjoy that "freedom", you must go behind gates and fences, pay dues, follow organisational rules, etc. That may seem pretty old-fashioned to young people today.
Younger persons interested in the lifestyle probably just want to enjoy going nude on their own terms. When I was a kid, I went nude at home when I had the house to myself; a bunch of us kids even had a "nude club"; no rules, just horsing around without clothes together. I started going to a nude beach with friends, as a teenager. At University, we had nude parties (and that was decades ago, nothing new there!) I habitually went nude in my apartment during this time, and had friends over I had met at the beach who joined me. We weren't looking for an organised, structured club or group. We just wanted to sit around naked, talk, drink some wine, listen to music, etc.
I don't think we can measure the involvement of younger persons in a clothes-free lifestyle by asking the same old questions, such as "have you ever skinny-dipped". In addition to the "skinny-dipping" question, we could add:
- do you go nude in your own home, alone or with others - have you ever gone nude in friends homes - have you ever gone nude outdoors, alone or with others - have you ever been to a public nude beach - have you ever been to a nude party
I think more young persons may enjoy the clothes-free lifestyle, but consider it a casual, fun thing to do. And isn't that part of what got us all into it? It know it was for me. No rules... just no clothes.

it seems that the younger popultion is either too scared to go because their parents are basically "anti-nudes," or, they were forced into it as a young child and never given a choice sothey refuse. Kids and young teens don't like tobe told exactly how tolive

This is one debate where one could say, we can't play the blame game, resorts that aren't family friendly or geared to or welcome them. Why ask why? They have their excuses or reasons, a friend was shocked to find out we took our kids to a resort, she thought nudism was adults only, some misconception indeed. They were born natural nudists and we need only to look in the mirror for the culprit/answer as to why they aren't interested or willing to enjoy this lifestyle.A club with activities for them and includes them, at all functions will have or be a place they'll want to go too! We can't drive by without " can we go to club" as there are many others growing up without shame. That being kids are people too! You can have adults only or family friendly which answers this question, where's the kids? One club we know of 100's of them enjoy it.

Of course the best advice for young people is to completely ignore the attitudes and advice of us old folks. Young women aren't questioned anymore why they want a career and don't have to be ten times as competent to get into med school like their mothers. Men don't get virility and progressive thinking points for subscribing to Playboy. The poetic environmentalism of the Flower Children has nothing to say to the full-blown crisis of global warming. Being totally comfortable with friends of a different race or gender isn't a political statement.
So, listen up young people, here is some advice from an old person:
- don't stress over paying taxes to fund those individual public shower stalls
- save up to pay for membership at a nudist club that's only a 2-hour drive away
- accept that its normal to be embarrassed if dorm mates, friends or neighbors see you nude
- accept that dorm mates, friends and neighbors will be totally shocked to see you nude
- know that, if you enjoy clothes-free time, you are a nudist, part of a minority and need to be discreet
- stick with that diet to have a body like Keira Knightley or Ronaldo
- nudity is a big deal, so get over it

I find nudist places rather boring. During daytime it all looks "bingo" to me - no clothes and no brain. Even volleyball tends to loose its attraction after watching the hopping items for a while. Sorry folks, I know there are exceptions. In addition we have this "inequal-rights" thing in discriminating nudist clubs, keeping single men out and let single women in for the local lead males to enjoy. As for _men_ 40 and less - no way for them to feel comfortable in a nudist resort with all the continuous (envy based?) control and monitoring on erectional circumstances - even while asleep. Nudist resorts are for seniors who are past natural responses.
============================================================= Discrimination of single men seems to offer the greatest fun to non-singles. It is not a healthy single womens' doing. =============================================================

Limer, Based on my experiences you overstate your case. I've watched nearly 500 participants in a Clothing Optional 5K Run or Walk Races enjoy the experience and many were under 40. Afterwards many lounged around the pool where nudity is required and judging by their tan lines most were not regular outdoor nudists. They looked to be having a swell time and did not seemed to be concern about 'continuos control and monitoring.'
Best Wishes, Jim

After reading some of the post I feel Like I really to say something. Me and my wife ages 29 and 34, me being the oldest of course my wife being the youngest are new to nudism. We have done it in our home many times and out doors a few but only the two of us. A couple of weeks ago we got of the courage to go to a clothing opt. camp. When we got there, there was a few young people that was there for day use. By the time we got up the courage. They had already left. What was left was one person near our age and her much older husband. She wasn't really into the whole scene. It would appear she was only there because of her husband. To make a long story short. Considering the odd days we was there and all there was only a few people around and all was older. We still ended up having a wonderful time and have decided to go back asap. We are now trying to get others near our age interested in this life and getting them to go with us.
Blessed Be!

One problem I have noticed with the younger crowd is the monetary issue, beaches are usually cheaper, and maybe closer. Many resorts are farther off the beaten path and usually more expensive.
Another issue is, there are none of our kind around. I was very happy to see a young couple @ Glen Eden the weekend before presidents day weekend. They were looking for a home club. Other than them, and the few kids, nobody was under 40, and it does not help that places like Glen Eden have those grumpy old gusses who complain when kids are in the pool because they can not walk around in the pool to exercise, they might get splashed, etc. I Love Glen Eden, but I really don't want to go back with those strongly supported attitudes.
I just joined a web forum for young naturists (16-35) that has been active for awhile. We talk about these issues. I agree though with some talk above, bring some friends if you can. I have brought some models and friends to resorts and clubs, We have to bring life to the youth movement, we can not just wait for it to happen, or just wait for someone Else to do it.

Young Naturist Association International (a non-profit based out of Australia)
From the front page --------------------------------------- An effort to encourage worldwide youth naturism. Why? Because frankly nudism/naturism must be encouraged for fear it will die out. We at YNAI will work to keep nude beaches open. In fact any area that attracts nude recreation should be defended by organized nudist groups.
YNAI is dedicated to that cause and at the same time is working to be a vehicle whereby young naturists and naturist "wanna-bes" can find information on where they can be nude in public. Up to now many so called naturist publications rarely feature or encourage young people in the naturist lifestyle.
We at YNAI hope to help change all that. When it comes to naturist resorts, youth participation is always in short supply. It's important to encourage resorts to stop catering to older naturists and allow younger people to be an active part of their focus. ---------------------------------------

Now is a good time for young northern-hemisphere naturists to get organized for next summer. Why not identify your favorite beach, identify a sympathetic council-person on the local committee that administers it, and see if you can put up a YNAI banner on the beach next summer to create a small space where young naturists can congregate? Exploring how to organize this might also provide a great focus for get-togethers over the winter. Just an idea...
PS. the group of people helping organize the YNAI space idea of course don't all have to be naturists themselves -- I am a great believer in working together with people who just support the freedom to choose and aren't bothered by nudity.

That is a very good idea agde, I wish I lived near some beaches to do that. Though we have tons of sand here, no surf :( But I would love to see this kind of thing happen all over the place :)
New YNAI logos are being designed right now, then added to the stores for towels, cups, etc :)
