love sun, welcome to these message boards. Are you still closet nudists or open. In other words, have you told anyone?
Best regards, Cheri

We have been open nudists for a while now. With some people it was a struggle, with others it only felt like it would be a struggle but after we let them know it turned out to be no big deal. Some people in our lives don't know, for many different reasons, but the important ones do :) Also alot of my co-workers and employees know, not everyone though. You always have to be careful in a work environment. Ahhh well such is life.
I was a closet nudist though when I was growing up Well ok, most of the time when I was a lil lil one you couldnt keep clothes on me, but during the teen years I would lock my door and sleep in the buff cause it felt great. Or I would sleep in a sleeping bag (Because you to this day cant keep covers on me, sleeping bag I HAD to stay in, kept it zipped up :)

Some people whom I know, or have known, may still not know about how naturism (and the internet) has (have) become my main interest(s) (obsessions). On the other hand. Being seen naked in a VW advertisement, with a whole lot of other people. Having naturist items all over the internet and having had a letter re nudism to the editors published in our newspapers here, the secret is mainly out. :-) My kids (well- now in early 20s) and my ex (still friends) were very amused to open the Sunday paper a year or two (?) ago and find me, sitting nude, in a full page spread (tastefully) in the middle of a group of people, next to a car. :-)
Naturism is for every body.

I guess my wife and I are closet nudist! Being my wife is involved in politics, and I am in law enforcement we have to be careful.
That is why we enjoy going to nudist resorts out of state.
We generally always go to the resorts in the Conn area when we are home during the summer months, and then when we vacation in the winter months we enjoy Cypress Gardens. We have visited other resorts in the Gulf Coast Region.
When we visit my sister in in Southern Calif. we always make time to go to Palm Springs and enjoy - - - . On our next trip we are going to try Terra Cotta.
I think it all depends upon how you think your friends, and employers would take to your life style. Believe my friends would be "SHOCKED"!!
Once again can't wait for Thanksgiving to be over, so we can head South. There was 4 inches of snow of the ground last week, it is too early!!!

I guess I might be considered a closet nudist. My attitude is the something of wanting to be as open as any one of you. I've started as of around the house all the while hoping to branch out into the open. Had posted conversations with a few members pertaining to this openess, even had an application sent to me in order to join (to which will be filled out after the holidays). Only time will tell how all this will affect me and/or my family. I've established a profile in an over 50+ (age) chat room which includes as a hobby "nudism". At this time I've had no negative comments and some few questions about said subject. Usually my answers have been "at home and expecting to be more involved in the near future" At no time at time has anyone called me or what I plan to do as perverted and nor do I have plans on letting them do so!

I am a closet nudist, I must admit. My friends and family would never understand, and I would be way too embarassed to tell them even if they did understand. However, I am very open about it in public. I travel to many nude beaches and am not the leaset bit shy about it. I love meeting and talking to people when I'm nude, even if they are not nude!
One reason I just joined this forum is to meet people online to discuss nudosm with, so if anyone would care to chat please write me at tbaxga@yahoo.com

We are a bit of both. We are educators in a very conservative community, so we don't go around advertising it. On the other hand, we don't lie about it either. Most of our friends/family know. Funny, though, my mother told me it would best not to tell my dad, as he might not understand, and so I haven't. If he asked, though, I would tell the truth.
As time goes by I am leaning more toward the view that if people don't approve, then that's their problem. I post to rec.nude under my real name. I am not afraid of being "outed." I am not ashamed of my beliefs. (I'm also not planning to run for public office!)

What is so strange about what has happened in regards to being an open or closet nudist is that....more people at work know of my nudist lifestyle than do family and close friends!
You'd think it would be the other way around.

Actually FireProf, we are the same way and it makes a lot of sense. With people @ work, you usually dont have 'as much to lose' if they are upset by it. You just ignore em, or whatever. But with family you have more invested in. More of your identity as well as feelings. If THEY are upset by it, it is more of a hit to you.
A few years ago, I had to let my (very conservative Christain) boss know where I was going to be vacationining incase they needed to get ahold of me. Well all I did was give them the number, incase they didn't need me nobody would know Ofcourse he did need me, so he found out After I got back I found out that his wife had grown up as a naturist and he had lots of questions for me :)
Everything trned out ok. Most of my employees had already known, and most of my co-workers know as well. My son's preschool knows because I have had a few knock down drag out fights with them about them teaching my son (and the rest of the class) that nudity was bad, etc, etc. Most of my children's friends, and thier parents, know. Most of them arnt nudists and we stay clothed when they are over.
-------------------- I believe that children are our future; Teach them well and let them lead the way Show them all the beauty they possess inside; Give them a sense of pride to make it easier Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

As days pass, more and more people we know are learning of our nudist lifestyle. It is now a topic of discussion everyday I am at work. Some are interested in why, others are interested in where and how often and others are just amazed that "people do that".
Some are finding out that they are more interested in trying it and experimenting with nudism at home. A couple have asked when I was going to the beach again so they could tag along. My situation changed for the better at work when another guy told everyone that he and his first wife used to go to nude beaches and hang out naked at home all the time. After that I wasn't looked at as the weird old guy because one of their peers was also a nudist so it couldn't be a bad thing.

Well my wife and I used to be closet nudists... We're pretty much open now. The hardest part was telling our parents, my wife's mom pretty much took it in stride, and mentioned that she had once talked about going out there with my wife's cousin. Her sister (15) pretty much took it completely in stride too. My parents figured it out on their own, then my dad cracked jokes about it (still does all the time) and my mom confided that they'd once discussed checking our a resort. And they both use it to gross out my younger brother who's 15. We were kind of worried about how my parents would take it as they are both pretty religious, but we were fairly pleased by the result because now we don't have to hide anything when we go to the resort.
I don't tell the people I work with, mostly because they just don't need to know and I don't want to deal with any possible negative effects that might come from that. I am shooting for management and I wouldn't put it past some people to rumor monger to hold me back. My wife hasn't told anyone at her work, but I think that's mostly because it just hasn't come up yet.
It is kind of hard to tell old friends, it took me 2 years to work up the guts to tell my best friend, and he's still totally weirded out about it. But new friends I pretty much tell them right up front, it's easier that way, there's nothing to hide and it usually gives you LOTS to talk about with a new friend!
I'm enjoying being out of the closet, and now we have even discussed the possibility of taking up residence in our favorite nudist resort. It's actually surprisingly affordable! If you live as a nudist all the time, you really can't BE a closet nudist!
That Said... PLAY NUDE! Brad

Brad I think alot of people feel that if they mention the fact of being a nudist to co-workers they think that somehow they will be looked at differently.I have been an open nudist when I can be. My father was the Pres. of the Western Sunbathing Assoc. in Utah no less, for many years as a single man and father of 4. I grew up around it and found out that my mothers grandparents were also nudists, my Mother does't agree with my chioces sometimes but after my husband and I met 5 years ago we he had what we now call our "spot" to go relax. Unfortunatley said spot has become way to overcrowded with non-nudust horseback riders , bikers, runners and just plain walking traffic. That is why I went on line to see whats out here and this site, which I think is great. We even booked a vaK in St. Martin at a clothing optional resort and can't wait to get back into the swing of things. One major problem I have is we can't seem to find any areas in MD for us to be able to swimm etc.. Anyone out there have any ideas? We don't have a boat so thats out unless you got one we can join you on it. Regarding the work issue that you brought up, well Iv'e been in my field for going on 7 yrs and am in upper management District Manager to be exact of 9 retail clothing stores (Go Fogure!) and when I was asked about my vacation plans this year I told them were I was going and (Not a nudist camp just St. Maartin) and all I was packing was a beach towel, sunscreen and sunglasses. Some were a bit suprised but most were like RIGHT ON!!! So don't judge the folks you work with to harshley. We all have our personal preferences, and if someone wants to start a rummer at least its not a crime to be nude, where thats excepted anyway:-) So relax enjoy and not worry so much about others thinking and enjoy life for you not them. You'd be supprised maybe some of them are in your shoes.
