Kim, once again, well put. There are many who are looking for the opportunity to close nude beaches based on "lewdness."

I think the key to the question was"if I want to".this implies that the person is activly
encouraging an erection, weather focusing on sexual aspects or manual manipulation. As society
considers it rude to scratch your but in public it also considers fondeling other parts of
your body to be equally rude.If it is that you are blantantly gwaking at someone that also is
rude. Now where as I feel that erections are natural and not nessesarily impolite encouraging
it or causing it should be done out of the social setting. As to weather my family knows about
my nudism,my brother does and my wife's girlfriend does,it's not a topic I introduce myself
with.Nor is it one I would shy away from.I have friends who know and really dont care.I don't
try to push them into accepting my choices nor do I try to hide them.I have invited them to
join us at the park, but i don't take offense when they refuse.

Looks like we veered off the original topic here... no, my family does not know I'm a nudist. I was raised in a conservative Catholic family and although I was close to my parents (now just my mother as dad passed on many years ago), it's just not something that needs to be discussed.

However, my girlfriend and I are quite open with friends about it but her family does not know. She has grown daughters still living at home and we don't walk around naked at her place when they are home. I do prefer to go nude at my own house, including when I work out. Working out nude provides the added benefit of showing how the muscles are working, and it looks more obvious when proper form is not being used while lifting. Nude workouts generally feel better. Just be sure to watch your toes on the equipment, or wear sneakers!

The only real disadvantage to going naked at home in Pennsylvania during this time of year is higher heating bills. ;-)

Regarding the erection issue, I must confess it happened to me a couple of times at Sandy Hook, both times during a long walk along the ocean's edge with my lady but not in a crowded area of the beach. To say she's quite attractive would be an understatement. The weather was beautiful, and the combination of the setting plus our being nude with each other resulted in an erection. I guess we were quite relaxed and a maybe a little turned on by each other at the moment. It went away in about a minute before anyone could come by and get a look. She laughed and said something about it being a compliment to her. BUT if we were in a crowded area it would not have happened.

Occasionally you might catch some fool just standing there, openly displaying an erection for all to see. Everyone ignores them, and these guys eventually take themselves and their "tool" elsewhere after failing to impress. There's is one very elderly man who's a frequent visitor to that beach... this is strange but also a little funny. He pops Viagra, waits for it to take effect, then walks all the way from his towel to the ocean with that darn thing sticking out the whole time. Once in the water, he wades in until the ocean *almost* covers his legs, walking around with an erection hovering right above the water's surface. He is apparently a source of entertainment for the other patrons, as I heard some people snickering and saying something about a "hard on".

So basically what I'm saying here is that an erection can happen unexpectedly to healthy males under specific situations, as what occurred to me very briefly. It passes quickly and is usually no big deal, especially considering some of the other stuff that goes on out in the open at Sandy Hook. However, keeping an erection out there in a crowded area and showing it around impresses no one.

Welcome to the forum nudeguy. Basically thats what we have been saying about the male erection issue. Seems like a lot of people like to be seen in public that way.

None of my relatives and acquaintances knows I've done skinnydipping. I live alone so it's easy for me to plan a nudist outing.

Hello again. I live alone, but neither my parents nor my siblings know. It's tough to keep secrets in my family, and I know of some who would be shocked.

OTOH some of my good friends know. One woman is a home nudist, one is open to nudity although not a nudist, and the other is not a nudist but isn't turned off by my confession. None of these, unfortunately, are in my own church, which is like my family and also like a small town: everyone knows everyone else's business. Some of them would be shocked too.

AT the risk of repeating myself...

Most of our family members do not know we are nudists. Our grown daughters and our son in laws know and that's what is important.

We had a BBQ and swim party recently with my side of the family and we now have a wall decoration that refers to skinnydipping. My family members seemed fine that we skinnydip in our pool and either smiled about it or commented favorably about our ability to do it in the privacy that our backyard provides.

We are members of AANR, TNS, INA and Friends of San Onofre Beach. All these organizations and groups send out monthly or quarterly periodicals that are all over our house. We pick most of them up prior to anyone but our kids visiting, but we have forgotten a few from time to time so no telling who's seen them.

Also, we vacation alot and have family members watch the house and pets and they get the mail. I am sure they have seen the periodicals come in the mail and are curious about their origin and have gone home to look up the names on the internet, so I think my sister in law knows we are either subscribing to nudist material or are full fledged members and livers of the lifestyle.

Yes, my family members know that I enjoy skinny-dipping.
My parents know that I have been to the Ledges and Yorktown Recreation. As a matter of fact, before they knew Yorktown was clothing optional, they were hounding me about their comming to check it out with my daughter, but once they found out (through a newspaper article) that it was c/o, they changed their minds. Now, Dad "stongly advises" me not to go there on my day off because "it isn't the type of place I should be seen" in my line of work (Social Worker). Unfortunately, Dad has "friends"(every Police Officer in Maine) out there who report in my whereabouts wherever I go. I am not sure if they know about my visit to Solair a few years back, but it is likely.

Anyway, my daughter's mother knows, as do my close friends. They are aware that I spend time along the river in the sun & water nude. My co-workers know, but I will address this in another thread.

USVERA - As far as I'm concerned you've hit on the head. For so long we've been brought up that wearing clothes is a godsend and being naked to most is somewhat taboo. My thoughts have been somewhat in a battle mode where My upbringing has told me one thing (I'm proud of my parents and what they've done for me) and my feelings another. That is why I'm attempting to venture out and express myself in being free from constraints.

Hello,
My wife and I became nudists this past summer and we both just love it. We have not got a clue how to approach our families about it. My brother and her parents would go right off the deep end. As far as the rest of them go there is absolutely no telling. Consequently we have just kept it quiet. It would be nice to be able to share it with somebody but we just don't know how to or even if we should.

My fiance and I are going on our first outside the home nudist venture on our honetymoon. she told her brother where we were going who in turn told her daughter and her mother. All have said they were suprised but we have had no negative reations. In fact her brother has said he would like to go with us should we decide to do it again. I think before the end of next summer we have created a nudist family.
