The donations were great. We fell far short of the goal, but it was enough to cover the costs of all the software, and freed up my calendar for a few days. Anyone wanting to help further can:

Progress is ongoing. In this phase is where problems come up and solutions are found. I'm working on getting the two main pieces of software from different companies to play together nicely.

I had been utilizing the bulk installation plugin provided by the software designers. It didn't work very well, with several errors and malfunctions after using it. So I started over without it, installing all 70+ plugins manually.
Everything looks great. Two of the larger plugins left to install.

These days it's safer to surf with a full hazmat suit. Keep in mind to follow the health professionals advice to always put on three layers of gloves before logging on to any unfamiliar website, just to be sure.

The new forum has a feature that you can set someone as your adversary. This will make them disappear from your view, similar to putting them on ignore. You can disable any PMs between you and your adversary. You can optionally set from within your profile whether your adversary can view your posts. Pretty nifty.

I had some bugs to track down, and had to backtrack a few steps and fix them.
The staging server website is completed. Everything works. The new forum is really feature rich. I'm sure we'll all need some time to get used to it, and learn how to do everything.
Now I'll retrace my efforts for the live site.

Update: I've worked out why I was getting a database error when migrating the site from the staging server to live. That was perplexing. All good now.
With the structure 99% complete, I've got one last issue to resolve before building out the content portion of the site. We're nearly there!

The last bug has been tracked down and resolved.
The forum is up and running, and everything checks out! It's entirely void of content, so the next phase is putting the content structure in place.
It's all looking good.
