Hi Fishman,
I regret that sentence. I apologize for calling anyone here an idiot. I should have taken a breath and reread my post twice before sending it.
I wonder if it's possible, or desirable to section off an area for couples only, like the non nude beach is sectioned off. I know not every couple would want to, or would take advantage of that, but some may. And singles of course would be allowed to be invited in by anyone. And probably any singles could probably simply walk in without penalty, but at least it would be making a statement.
I don't know. But I do know that some nude beaches require nudity of all, at least that would be something. Anyone there without a nudist is certainly there just to gawk.

I agree that a "couples-only" section would be great, but I don't see that as a possibility... You can't discriminate in that manner in America, and you probably shouldn't, truth be told.
All I'm looking for there is the display of a modicum of normal social decorum. God Himself knows that it's just wrong for a circle of AARP-type men to form around any young/attractive women or girls, and make the latter feel violated.
The NPS is apparently cracking-down on harmless and un-noticed sexual activity WAY back on the beach; I would much prefer them to be on the waterline, just to remind everyone that we are all supposed to be there for the ocean and the sun, and not in a ridiculous attempt to pick up girls 30 years our junior.

(Proof that lightning does occasionally strike, in an existential sense...)
We were there for three days this week. Monday was very nice, but on Tuesday there was torrential rain in the morning... Yet we headed to the beach around 2 because we had nothing else to do.
The clouds and rain moved away, and we were treated to a warm and calm afternoon, in the company of maybe 15 people on the entire beach.
The amazing part was that there was not a single annoying person on the beach at that point, and no one of that ilk showed-up once the sun appeared... (Usually, they do.)
There were a few single men there, mind you, but they all just waved "hello" if we acknowledged them, and went back to their books or their swims.
That was a first in my 200+ trips to Gunnison, and it was my best day ever there as a result.

Single men can't be nudist's? Why would you expect anything other than a friendly hello?.

All I am saying is give peace a chance. Deja Vu

Pretty sure from his comments here that Big John has an agenda when he goes to the beach that involves gawking, but that's just a wild guess, Diger. :-)
We had a great few days down there, though the sunniest day of all (Wednesday) featured 25 MPH winds coming off the sand all day long. The stinging granules were aloft at high speed, the wind-chill was prohibitive as far as comfort went, and, yes, the windscreen was an absolute necessity.
We saw one thing that we'd yet to see there, ever: a couple of Rangers on foot-patrol that were going around un-zipping closed tents on the beach, without their owners' permission.(None of the tents we saw them open-up were even occupied, and there was no apparent untoward behavior in the vicinity of any of them, BTW.)
I found this situation offensive. Evidently, the NPS feels that they can handle private property (albeit on Federal land), without so much as a "How do you do?" to the owners, and without any apparent probable cause to justify a search.
The NPS monkeys in the trees to the back of the beach seemed to have handcuffed enough folks lately to dissuade consenting adults from having discreet sex there (good for them, the heroes) but is it really lawful to invade tents on the main beach, just looking for a reason to arrest somebody?
Anyone?

How am I a bully? I do resent the age and gender discrimination here and I think I have a right to defend men who go. I also resent being called a gawker when you don't even know me.
Nudism isn't just for the beautiful young people, it's a lifestyle you can enjoy your whole life.
If we're going to guess what motives people have for going to Gunnison, I'd say the people who go to try to "hook up" are a lot more in number than the gawkers.
And if you search other sites for Gunnison, it becomes clear that many do.

I should add this, Many men over 50 have lost their wives, or partners. That doesn't mean they need to give up their enjoyment of Naturalism. It also doesn't mean they need to find a woman to join them when they go if they're not ready, or never want to, it also means they shouldn't be judged just by being there, until you've walked a mile in their shoes.
Let me ask you a question, a personal question that needs no answer here. When, For you male, fairly good looking hetro's that go, what is the best thing you like about being there? If every time you went, nobody else ever showed up, would you still go? And when you're there, do you keep one eye out for pretty girls? I've seen girls without their clothes on from my teenage years to almost 60 yrs. old. been there, done that, I'm there for other reasons.
Let me clothes by adding this. look at the post's made that talk about older single man or men there and replace the word men with woman or women. Are you not upset that they may be there to gawk at the young, good looking guy's, or is that OK?
Life's too short for arguing this kind of thing anyway. When I'm there, I usually have a green umbrella and I try to stay close to the lifeguard stand, My name is John, my friends call me Big John. If you ever need another player for volleyball, I'm always into it.

Calm down John before you have a stroke or get a blister from the keyboard. I'm sorry single males have gotten a bad rap but you can blame that on the few bad apples that have spoiled it for the rest.
We have some older single males that we count as friends at Apollo that we look forward to seeing while we are there and on the flipside we know some of the pervs that we are on guard for also. I do not consider that discrimination do you? Most people here have had the same experiences that we have and some of them have let it jade them a bit. If you want to get your point across relate your experiences and don't argue a point or resort to name calling that will get you nowhere except kicked off this forum.
Hope to have the privilege to be counted among your friends and call you Big John someday. :-)
BTW... I think you meant Naturism.

Name calling? I'm calm. You didn't address my post, but that's OK. As far as getting kicked off, I can't figure out how to leave the group. I emailed who I thought was the forum leader and asked to be removed, because I keep getting emailed responses to the thread. If anyone knows how to remove me, please do.
Thanks,
John

I suppose you can just ignore the huge influx emails that you're getting..? (I have never gotten one from anyone on here.)
John, I'm pretty sure that you know the sort of men we are talking about there: the roving male loners of all ages who circle the women like flies on roadkill. They are the people who dissuade women and families from coming to CO beaches.
My comments have nothing to do with sexism or ageism; I just call a spade a spade. In hundreds of trips to Gunnison and Haulover, I have yet to see a woman of any age cruise repeatedly through the crowd to gawk. It just doesn't happen.
CO beaches would have much more appeal to the general public if the voyeurs would just stay home, watch porn and masturbate... But you can't legislate that a social IQ of > 60 is required to go out in public. (Sadly.)

Hello all - and now for a complete change of topic -- I would like to thank the owner/operator/moderator of this fabulous board and let you know that as a direct result of this particular forum, my wife and I first started going to Gunnison - then because it was so far, we ventured into an actual nudist park in PA and then into several others. We joined AANR visited Haulover and Apollo and Playalinda and then we stayed at a clothing optional resort in Florida and a few years ago, we purchased a place in one of the clothing optional resorts in Florida. Without the information available here, I doubt any of that would have ever happened. We do thank you so much for enriching our lives in this way. For others out there - you should join and support AANR and consider visiting nudist resorts if you have not already done so. I think we have been to 12 and found every one of them friendly and inviting. Many even have cabins when you can stay overnight. No nice sandy beaches or ocean, but plenty of friendly people and a nice pool. Have Fun!

No idea where you are in PA (a big State for sure) but have you heard of one near the Great Bend/Susquehanna exit off 81?
There was apparently one there in a rustic setting and with a pool, but I can't seem to find it online these days.
