I just saw in today's Richmond Times-Dispatch (Easter Sunday edition) thar there's a 44 year old married nudist guy in St. Petersburg, Florida who is making a pretty decent living charging $130 per hour to do handyman work in the nude.
There was an entire article about him and he professes to be spreading the word that nudism isn't about sexuality etc etc. It shows a photo of him sitting on the floor in front of a kitchen sink..on a towel..wearing nothing but his tool belt while a housewife sits in a kitchen chair watching him work..or ..watching something.
Just thought you'd like to know in case it didn't make other newspapers around the country.

A handyman walks in, and he drops his pants . . .
That's no joke -- NakeDan the nudist repairman is doing just fine

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- When Dan Mlotkowski gets ready to fix a sink, he pulls off his shirt, drops his pants and straps on his tool belt.
Adblock

Then he's NakeDan the Handyman, stripped and ready for repairs.

A 44-year-old St. Petersburg entrepreneur, Mlotkowski has parlayed a recent 50-pound weight loss and 20-plus years of handyman experience into a one-of-a-kind business.

Don't laugh. With rates of about $130 per hour, Mlotkowski says his schedule is nearly booked through April.

"I finally found the perfect business for myself," said Mlotkowski, a married nudist and former advertising salesman and contractor.

"I'm making money. I don't have to deal with unreliable employees. There's no competition, and I am working to become a force in overcoming people associating nudity with sex."

Mlotkowski said he came up with the venture after a doctor's visit last year. He had high blood pressure and was given two choices: Take daily medication or lose weight.

"I took off 35 pounds in about four months and started thinking: 'Hey, maybe I could be working in the nude.'"

He now weighs 198 pounds (waist 33 inches) and "simply loves being naked as much as possible," according to his Web site, www.nakedan.com. NakeDan was born in October. (There's a NakeDan the Notary, too.)

His clients have been both women and men, with mostly gay men so far. He works in Pinellas County but plans to expand to Hillsborough County.

Recently, Mlotkowski drove his tool-filled red pickup truck to the St. Petersburg home of Yolanda Bryant, a married nurse who's a repeat customer.

Installing blinds was the main order of the day, in addition to fixing two doors and a kitchen leak and doing some caulking in a bathroom.

Bryant said her curiosity and a growing list of home-improvement jobs led her to give the naked handyman a try.

As all NakeDan clients must do, Bryant first had to sign a contract saying she wouldn't touch him or behave sexually in any way. She also agreed children wouldn't be present and she would keep the shades drawn.

"The first time he was here, I signed the contract, but he still caught me off guard," Bryant said. "I turned around and he was undressing.

"After the initial 'mmmm,' I watched him. He looks good, but I'm too busy to just sit around and stare."

Bryant said she and her husband, who is not present when Mlotkowski works, were pleased with his installation of a kitchen appliance and a garage light, so they brought him back again.

Mlotkowski will work clothed -- no price discount, though -- but for Bryant, he stays nude until the job is completed.

"I've had shoddy work done by guys showing their beer bellies and plumber's crack," Bryant said. "So I'd rather look at Dan, and he's reliable and does great work."

Hearing one-liners from friends and clients comes with the territory for a naked handyman.

The most popular jabs include the words "danger" and "saw," Mlotkowski said. "The puns are endless, which helps keep things fun."

Mlotkowski said he also spends a fair amount of time turning down strange requests from callers responding to his ads in local publications and his Web site.

"I've been asked if I would dance at parties, wrestle or be Tasered . . . among others," Mlotkowski said. "It's clear on my Web site that I'm not about any of that, but some people don't want to believe it. I've been hit on at job sites, but nearly all my customers have been totally professional."

Professionalism is the reason Roy Josephs of Safety Harbor and Ann Beam of St. Petersburg said they've hired Mlotkowski multiple times.

"I thought this was just an advertising gimmick at first," Josephs said. "We were in despera

Actually I/ve started the same service in the Los Angeles area. I've been a handyman for many years, doing minor repairs. I now offer to do it in the nude.

It's fun and it gets me extra business. I don't charge nearly what he does.

I'm hoping to do the same thing when I retire but have one place in particular I'd like to work. I think I can get away with doing some things in the nude. Other things will require at least a pair of shorts while working above the wall/fence line.

If I can't own it I might as well work there!!

I've been nude when my handyman was here doing work, but I never thought of things being the other way around. Look what I've been missing...

Annie :)

Wow. I wonder why I never thought of working nude. The patients are nude, so why shouldn't I be? Sure the hospital regs say I have to wear a hat and a mask and gloves, but I checked, and there's nary a word about pants! On the downside, the O.R. is kept at about 65 degrees, so there will be the inevitable goosebumps and, um, shrinkage issues to deal with. I guess maybe I haven't thought this through ... Never mind.

I was thinking of doing a job very similar to nakedan, but as a part-time side job for college. How much would be a good rate? I want to do this because I love to do things nude and I figure people would pay to have a toned man work in their house. Non-sexual of course. Also, if you were in need of a handyman, would you consider a nude worker over a clothed? How do you think others would feel?

That is not nudism. That is all about thrills and/or cashing in on thrills of others.

If you want to do it, fine. But please dont tie it to nudism.

Rebel,

I believe you have me all wrong. My intentions are for nudism. I wish to promote nudism by bringing nudism into other's homes. The business would be non sexual. Also the business would not be for my thrill (other than the thrill anyone would get from being nude at any time). I would do much of what nakedan does to try to promote nudism and helping people understand. Believe me, it wouldn't be what a streaker seeks, but what a true advocate seeks. If you've ever sweated or painted or other housework, you know, clothes are such a hassle.

I guess I understand what you're trying to do, but I am still trying to be more protective of the issue of and the issues nudism. So many people on here especially these days are only interested in seeing naked people for their thrills, or the potential of sexual favors. But the most part when we get together as a group or are as individuals meeting one-on-one we know that it is a pretty safe assessment that this is not for a thrill and is more about the lifestyle. But when you advertise in people see the word naked or nude it becomes a sexual thing. And even if they need to sign a disclaimer stating that this is a nonsexual issue, many of these idiots will try anyway because they know that for you to protect yourself legally from charges of soliciting sex you were going to ask them to sign an agreement, and then <wink, wink, wink>.

Rebel,

I completely understand. People these days, with MTV and all these pop-culture shows, probably can't look at anything without thinking about sex. I've met plenty of people who are so anxious to "get laid". I think legitimate, true nudism could lead people away from these behaviors if executed properly.
