I much prefer the nudist resort to a nude beach and most definitely feel that there would be a much higher chance of "first timers" with kids enjoying themselves at a resort. Everyone there has "read the rules" of etiquette, has a full understanding of expected/required behavior, and everyone there is nude rather than having the potential of non-nude gawkers (as gladdyman mentioned above). Activities for kids are often already in place at nudist resorts, whereas they might not be for kids on a nude beach. It's very difficult for a 12 year old boy to play beach volleyball against the front line of a college football squad, for instance.
Nudist resorts are family oriented, equipped to handle children's needs and interests, and the kids who are already there will make it seem all the more natural and fun.

Nice one Justjim, I figure it would be hard for a 12 year old to play volleyball against a college football squad. Nice example LOL, quite funny.

For my very first experience, it was a nude beach with my girlfriend and very best male friend at about 18 yrs old, it was the first time for all of us, then I went years without doing it at all, but got involved about 3 years ago. I went straight to a nudist resort, and after the initial nervousness, found it to be such a wonderful experience that I was hooked. People accepted you as you were, really took the time to sit and talk about things. And the wonderful feeling of being outdoors letting the sun and breeze all over you was something. We do have a known nude hiking area near where I live, but if you wander too far, you end up in a gay area where they do a little more than nudity. I find much more comfort at the resort, and have made many friends there. It is a wonderful thing to do in life, but can be a challenge to find another to share it and life with. Take care, and enjoy....
