I did last year's ride in Austin. The police were tolerant and it was great fun. I strongly suggest you put a towel or a sheepskin cover over the seat. Chafing is not a good thing.

I'm still deciding whether or not to participate in Chicago's. Last year 3 people got arrested. 3 out of 200, not bad odds. It was also the first year...I don't know how it will work this year and getting arrested would not be a good career move. That steady paycheck really comes in handy! :)

I just signed up to ride in San Francisco. Seems like a worthwhile event. SF can still be cold in JUne so I am hoping for a warm day.

I joined the first WNBR in York, England, yesterday. About 19% of all journeys in York are by bicycle. 62 riders in various states of undress rode the five mile circuit. We were escorted by five police cyclists who must be described as superb in their co-operation. They blocked the roads for us and even gave us the impression that they were happy to escort a clothes-optional demonstration that supported cycling. They work on their police bikes every day. Many people saw us and were very supportive, cheering us along, congratulating us on doing it and someone gave me £5 ($9) towards funds. That was apparently a UK first. In terms of people seeing us, I would say less than 5% of people would be against the ride. Quite a few went a bit red faced, but most had big smiles. A few parents hid their children's eyes but it was clear that the children were not shocked, they were just observing or laughing, along with most of their parents. There was one surprise and disappointment. Whilst the York event organiser is a naturist there was little naturist support. It was a once a year opportunity and a first for York, why do so few naturists support it? This was an anti-oil dependence pro-cycling completely peaceful demonstration. Is it because they are not interested in climate change?

There are rides all over the world. The DC ride is closest to me. I believe they are going near the White House. Check out the site

This is before the ride. www.flickr.com/photos/isisdc/2560300492/ www.flickr.com/photos/spiggycat/2559377148/ Flickr has restricted many of the WNBR photos. Many of them are now "private" which means you have to get the photogs OK to see them.
Well I did it. There were 41 riders in all. With about 10 of us wearing the legal minimum (A pouch or sock). The DC police had 1 car and 1 motorcycle for us. They blocked most of the streets. The ride is about 2 miles though downtown DC. Fortunately the ride is mostly level (I don't like hills). I will post (I hope) a link to a great photo collection. I'm is several shots. My favorite is White House #15. It is a profile shot of my large bare rear with the White House in the backround. My bike is easy to spot a 1972 vintage 3 speed with a banana seat (the basket is new) 20" front wheel 24" rear wheel. Both of us are a little rusty.
www.flickr.com/photos/perspective/collections/72157605498062699/ You will need to join flickr to see any of theses. Many of them are private. The link works. only took 2 trys While hundreds of people saw us, I didn't hear anyone complain. Worst thing I heard was a guy shout "they got no clothes on". LOTS of people grabbed their cameras and cell phones. We did keep moving so most people only got a short interuption of their day in DC. We stopped near the Capital and next to the White House (the street they closed after 9/11) where a cop on horse stayed between us and the public. LOTS more pictures there. Female reporter tryed to get some of the female riders to take their tops off (NO LUCK). Maybe next year.

Bob, congratulations on your participation in a well executed nude event, and also for your photo reporting!
Could you pick out a couple of photos for us to display in this thread, for those without a FlickR password? Just send them to admin@nudist-resorts.org . I'll resize them for the forum, and optimize them for quick loading.

I remembered to bring the towel. Didn't think to put it over the seat until AFTER the stop at the White House. That green sparkly vinyl had been in the bright HOT sun for a while.

Youtube pulled the video. This was taken in a public place in front of LOTS of police.
Special thanks to:
Elvert Xavier Barnes Photography

Most of the Photographers didn't bother to cover the actual ride. Mr Barnes worked the whole ride. I looked over during the ride to see him, taking pictures from his SUV.
