Let me be clear about smoking and TCI. We've been visiting TCI for almost 15 yrs. We've had many, many really great times there and will continue to return even if they don't change their policy or designate a specific area for smoking. You can find several spots on the pool deck that will keep you away from cig smoke, unless they are right next to you. We just have specific spots we like, near our rooms and if someone is smoking next to us, we'd rather complain then move! LOL
It was just this last time that this couple was in the room next to us and sitting down wind from us and they couldn't keep a cigarette outta their mouths for 10 mins! Rights are rights but ... if two people are smoking and cause 15 others to find refuge from the smoke ... who's rights are being disregarded? I'd much rather smell cigar or pipe smoke and even then, when I'm smoking either, I find a place where no one will be affected ... even at our nude beach! If I can't smoke my cigar or pipe without bothering someone ... I don't smoke!
Loves being naked. Plays well with others!

I remember the old days before smoking was banned at most restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and other public places. When we went out for an evening we invariably came home with our clothes and hair stinking of second hand smoke, and our bodies often felt the drug effect of the nicotine we had inhaled. By age 30 we had been pretty much driven out of commercial night life, as had the majority of people in my state. Bar and restaurant owners believed that they had to allow smoking because "all" their customers smoked. That was close to truth. Non-smokers had been driven out so only smokers were their customers.
When many cities and states outlawed smoking in restaurants and bars, usually over strong objections of bar owners, total sales tax revenue (and bar income) invariably increased. The missing 2/3 of the people had finally been able to go out at night and come home feeling good about the experience.
Of course, at a nudist venue you would not have to wash your clothes that stank of second hand smoke. But hair, lungs, and bodies would feel the effects. Common smoking would prevent me from being a customer.
And I agree that there probably should be some places where smoking is allowed for those drug addicts who can't put aside their drugs for a few hours. I just wouldn't go there.

Obstensibly, naturists are committed to good health,so smoking just doesn't fit in to that lifestyle. Naturists love the completely open feeling of being in the healthy sun. I can't imagine lighting up a ciggy in those circumstances. However, each to his or her own.
Drinking in excess does not seem congruent to the naturist lifestyle either. Being nude outdoors, one could think, is all the "high" one would need.
At one nudist-resort, a fair amount of nudists in the pool were being served drinks, but through lots of patient observation, these folks never seemed to get out of the pool until the end of the day. I guess they developed enormous bladders or something.

Warmskin, the nudist/naturist community doesn't strike me as any more committed to good health than the general public, other than in the abstract. Visit any good-sized resort and you'll see what I mean. I admit that some allowance should be made for the older-than-average demographic.
As for "... they developed enormous bladders or something" ... the "or something" has troubling implications.

gotta agree with you NaturistDoc a lot of nudist are overweight - me included they drink and smoke while sitting in the sun at the nudist camp/resorts but I don't think that was always the case as I have several nudist books and magazine dating from the 30's through the 50's and 60's where it seems exercise and good health was part of the objective of nudism. or was that just a photo opt back than ? I wish I could been part of it from the 50's to now and be more informative about it.

Photo op? Could be. By way of comparison, check out the ads for nudist resorts. Mighty healthy-looking folks there!
