There are times when even the most devoted naturist chooses or needs some kind of cover-up. The question--for both men and women--is what your choice tends to be, and where you purchase those cover-up garments.
What prompted the thread/question? I have looked for some time for simple gauze pull-over thigh-length tunics/caftans for my wife and myself. There's not much out there. There's plenty of 'prude-wear'--ordinary cotton; 'club-wear' that's generally 'racy'; 'erotic-wear' that tends to be tawdry. But there's not much in the way of simple elegance.
So again the question--is it always 'pareos'? Or does someone out there produce nicely finished 'gauze wear' for the naturist community?
(P.S. I'll post my 'finds' in this domain after NRO's have a chance to respond.)

Under the Sun clothing in FL has some gauzy type of cover-ups. They might advertise in The Bulletin. I've also bought a light-weight t-shirt dress from ABC Distributing (abcdistributing.com) since the Travelites has an account. The product is shipped without pre-payment so that if it doesn't fit or look like it does online, you can return it. I mostly do wear pareos or the t-shirt dresses. One was in the club's auction last year. Cheri

Pilot, I think you're on to something here. There HAS to be a market for something between prude-wear and slut-wear. I'm lucky enough to have a wife who's a wizard on a sewing machine, but you'd think somebody would recognize a market niche.

Maybe your wife is looking for a good, part-time home business, Doc?

Best deal I can find is at Amazon: the International Male Gauze Catan I like the looks better than the one put out by Undergear; but who knows what you will really get until it arrives :)

When I was younger, my grandparents had a pool in the backyard with a high fence so we could go skinny dipping. When I was inside, I remember wearing a towel that had elastic and snaps. I did a search online last week and found them. They are called wraps. JC Penny, Bed Bath and Beyond and Linens and Things all have them. Some have velcro, some have snaps. This is what I have been wearing around my grandmothers house during dinner and such during the last week. They are very soft and comfortable.

I purchased a unisex cotton sarong at a swimwear shop for $10 that I wear around the yard in areas that I may been seen. I also have been doing some research on the Tan thru apparel. There doesn't seem to be retailer in our area or in Canada that sells these products, any sugestions? Has anyone used them?

In my first post, I promised a reply to this topic regarding the sites that I had identified.
The selection of such garments for men seems to be quite limited. I had found the undergear.com and internationalmale.com site as well, and nothing else. The picture of the product at the two sites is identical, and I have ordered one. I will report on quality etc when it arrives.
One might argue that this is somehow understandable, but it's hard for me to believe that a shapeless gauze caftan is the end of the imagination of designers. Simialrly, there are times when putting on a coverup makes sense, is more convenient than dragging ther towel to sit on and so on.
What's also really surprising is how little there is for women. There is some supply of low-end uninspired design--go to Target and similar online sites and you can find same. There is an abundant supply of gauza caftans for plus-size women from several vendors. Again, the design is simple to the point of being ordinary.
There seem to be a few--very few--places that produce coverups as anything approaching fashion. The garments are expensive because they are more like wearable art--often with hand painted or hand embroidered design. See, for example, www.papillonbleu.com under 'beachwear' for high-end examples. I think many women would love to have one of these, but cost is a barrier.
Overall, I think there might be a niche business for someone who wanted to explore the market and has the fashion know-how and production and distribution means. Surely there must be something more interesting than long cotton T-shirts or formless gauze.

Pilot,
I also had the same desire to find my wife some gauze or sheer cover ups to wear when she felt like having something light on. I found several on Ebay.
I did a Buy search on Sheer tops and tunics and found pages and pages of them. I just bought her a couple and only paid $17.00 for the most expensive one.
I copied and saved the link posted by you to PapillonBleu. I'm certain the Prof is gonna love one of those.
Thanks

My wife and I have some tan thru suits, they work well when you have to wear somthing, they aren't soggy and dry quickly.

I have a tan-through swimsuit if I have to wear one. However, if you don't remember to move the seams from time to time, you'll have interesting tanlines. I've not had the misfortune of having to wear one in a very long time...at least 11 yrs. :) Cheri
