I grew up in a large family in a small house. I and my brothers and sisters were nude on many occasions as a practical matter and thought nothing of it. Gradually, we were lulled into thinking of our bodies as sex objects. It takes a while to get over that. Most of us are pretty clinical about it now. Camping and naturism helps. At this point, our comfort is in relation to other people's comfort. I think many people feel that way. Without nudism, I think it is hard to have a zone of comfort outside one's home. Another reason I support organized nudism.

Even in preschool years, if alone I was very comfortable nude. From 8 years onward, unisex swimming at the local YMCA was always in the nude. It seemed natural and right. Everyone seemed comfortable with their bodies, a feeling I have maintained to this day.
So when I'm nude alone, at home, in a men's change room or on occasion at a clothing optional venue (and more rarely a nudist resort), I am relaxed and at ease with myself. Never give my nakedness a second thought.............

I've never really thought about it but I guess since after high-school or college u know being on your own in your own place. Though i won't call it nudity just being in my boxer shorts was fine i guess for the same reason they want you to have a towel to sit on in all the resorts.

Thorn Apple,
I think that what all of us are really looking forward to is the day when IF we're wearing clothes or not makes no difference to anyone around us. And when or if that day comes then we will truly be free to live how we wish.

I felt comfortable at a very young age like when I was 10 minutes old and I did not know what clothes was, of course I cant remember that far back. I slept in the nude as soon as I was able to stip off diapers. I feel more comfortable nude, whats all the fuss about indecency, if one is shocked they can choose not to look, who has the right to tell me to put clothes on anyway.

I honestly can't remember a time when I wasn't comfortable nude. When I was a teen and my size genes kicked in (6'6") was the only time I was self-concious. I guess its my athlete/soldier background that makes me regard my body like a machine.

Doing what I can to positively promote nudism - -
Guess that's what makes us nudists. Anyway, though I dont hate clothes, I also feel much more comfortable when nude. From about age 16 or 17 and never would want to trade the nudist lifestyle for anything in the world. And the best part of the lifestyle is without any doubt the social part and the fact that my friends who are not nudists understand that I love it tremendously and appreciate me for who i am. By the way, I think Cheri is doing a wonderful job in the way she promotes the nudist lifestyle and I hope she will both keep on enjoying it and promoting it for many many years to come.

For me it was mid teens. I was never particularly athletic looking so one wolud have thought that being in the showers at school I wolud have been self conscious about by body; but no. I had an interest in nudism from about the age of 15 & I and my wife joined our naturist club very early in our married life. Nobody judges you on how you look, large, small or what. Thank God for naturism.

Yep. I agree completely. And if that day ever came, I would cease to visit nudist venues.

When I was 17 or so, I decided to venture off to Sandy Hook and try the nude beach. I thought it might help me with self esteem issues. I was terribly shy and nervous. Years later, and after some therapy, I learned to look at myself nude in a mirror and feel utterly relaxed. I think I was about 28 or so.

Evidently I was quite comfortable in my skin at about age two, when my mother found me playing in the park across the street without the impediment of clothes. From then until about my twenties I don't recall any strong interest. But the summer of '70, in Yosemite, I spent about half the time swimming in the river nude and camping in the high country usually nude. That was probably the first time I was deliberately comfortable nude in public.
