Does anyone have any thoughts about the etiquette of strolling on a clothing optional beach? I was at Moshup Beach on Martha's Vineyard a couple weeks ago, and I noticed that most of the strollers were wearing suits. Perhaps most of the strollers were dressed because they were from the clothing-required end of the beach, but I’m wondering whether it’s considered poor form to stroll naked. This was the first time I'd spent the day at a c/o beach in the US, and I felt a little awkward strolling nude.

Since Martha's Vineyard is not a legal beach but tolerated, perhaps people are more skittish about being ticketed.
At Haulover, people do walk the shore nude. Cheri

Come on down to Gunnison in NJ and you can walk nude all day. We refer to the folks who walk the beach clothed as gawkers. The nude section is limited most of the summer by the nesting area(THEY are an endangered species). From now until frostbite time we get the whole beach. I will give the main site, you want Sandy Hook Unit, then Lot G www.nps.gov/gate
Bob Have a nice NUDE day !!

Lots of nude people walk the entire 5+ kilometer stretch between Acadia Beach and Wreck Beach. You do come across textiles, of course. I walk the entire length nude every time I'm down there, and make a point of saying "Hello" to everyone I meet, both nudist and textile (including gawkers). Sometimes "gawkers" are first timers just trying to screw up the courage to try going naked on the beach. I think it may be construed as more rude to walk by people, whether they are naked or clothed, without even acknowledging them. I've met some really nice people just be being friendly and saying "Hi", and had some great conversations with folks (both naked and textile). To me, walking the several kilometer stretch of shoreline is irresistable.

Both at our local nude beach (Lighthouse Beach) and while on vacation, I stroll the beach nude. Always see lots of others doing the same. It's not poor form to stroll naked if you're on a beach where it's permitted to be naked.

Chrome M Dragon I hope you get the courage in the end, once you do it you will find it a very liberating experience. I remember thinking everyone would look at me, but no-one took any notice. I love walking along the beach since I find it far more interesting than staying in one spot and good exercise. It isn't easy to find beaches long enough to do it without walking back and forth with people getting the impression I am an exhibitionist or going to see what I can gawk at.

I was on Playalinda Beach on Sunday (9/9) and there is plenty of beach to stroll on nude. This would be a perfect place to go, it was not overcrowded and plenty of space. I walked with my girl up and down the beach several times and played in the water...it was fabulous!

There is nothing like walking about a mile or so down the beach with nothing but the ocean and your spouse. I've wanted to walk from Apollo to Playalinda (About 10 miles) with nothing but a backpack.
When I find some one we trust enough to pick us up at the other end we might try it.
