The following is a report on the AANR-Tomorrow issue that was discussed and voted on at the AANR-East Convention and Regional Assembly.
A town Hall Meeting was held on Thursday morning July 17, 2003. A panel of three PAG members answered questions from the AANR-East members that attended the meeting. The panel was made up of Erich Shuttauf, AANR Executive Director; Robert Roche, AANR-East President; and Susan Weaver, AANR Trustee, and AANR Public Relations Chairperson. 14 Regional Delegates and over 40 AANR-East members attended the meeting.
Several members and delegates asked good questions, and made their feelings known to the panel. A few even received a round of applause for their remarks and questions. The meeting lasted just over 3 hours. George Muss, AANR-East Vice-president moderated the meeting to ensure that all members got a chance to either ask questions or speak on the issue.
Bob Roche, who originally supported the AANR-Tomorrow Proposition, withdrew his support and honestly answered questions asked of him. Erich, and Susan, did their best to state their position, and to relay what they believed the AANR-Tomorrow would do for the association if it passes. Their answers, to the questions put to them, were not sufficient enough to sell the sizzle.
Immediately following the Town Hall meeting the membership went into a Legislative Committee meeting. Bob Roche withdrew his proposals from consideration and the following proposals were made and approved by a committee of the whole: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal #1 MOTION: Move that the AANR-East Reginal Assembly directs the AANR-East Trustees to express its commendation to the AANR President and the PAG Committee for the outstanding dedication and commitment that went to the development of the AANR-Tomorror Proposal and to express to the AANR President in the strongest terms the concerns of the Reginal Assembly that this proposal in its current form represents an admirable start, but it needs to be referred back to committee for significant refinement and modifications to ensure that it more appropriately represents the interests of all of the AANR member constituencies as well as all AANR Clubs.
PURPOSE: To convey the serious concerns of the AANR-East Regional Assembly regarding the currently proposed AANR Restructuring as outlined in the AANR Tomorrow Proposition #1. MAKER: George Muss ---------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal #2 MOTION: Move that the AANR-East Reginal Assembly request the AANR-East President to appoint a transition Committee to ensure the continuation of the AANR-East Region as a representative of individual nudists and club owners within this region once the AANR discontinues collection of Regional dues if the AANR Tomorrow Proposal is adopted. PURPOSE: To empower the AANR-East Board to take such actions as necessary to ensure the continuation of the AANR-East as an organization and establish a transition team to facilitate its perpetuation and continued funding if current support mechanisms are discontinued. MAKER: George Muss ---------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal #3 MOTION: Move that if the AANR Tomorrow Proposal is passed at the AANR General Assembly, the AANR-East Reginal Assembly supports the AANR-East continuing as a region and forming an alliance with other regions and/or groups that are in opposition to the AANR-Tomorrow Proposal as currently presented. PURPOSE: To empower the AANR-East Board to take such actions as necessary to ensure the continuation of the AANR-East as a viable representative of the interests of individual nudists and clubs within the boundaries of the AANR-East. MAKER: George Muss ---------------------------------------------------------------- PROPOSAL #4 MOTION: Move that the AANR-East President is requested to appoint an Advisory Committee to coordinate input from the AA
