My wife and I recently visited Haulover Beach, in the North Miami Beach, FL area and conclude that it is still among the finest nude beaches we have visited. Newly constructed restrooms, chair and lounge concessions, refreshments at the beach .. a beach with full facilities. The sand is pleasant and the water, though a bit rough at times, is blue and inviting. The mix of genders seems about 70% men, 30% women, many couples (we went during the week, so we don't know about children on weekends), and a large variety of ages from teens to geriatrics. If you ever have the chance to visit ... take the opportunity. It is a lovely place to visit.

We are thinking about going down to Haulover the first week in March of 2009. What is the weather like then? I see that the averages temperatures are not unreasonable then. Do people go to the beach in March? Any comments would be appreciated.

Rog&jean, It depends on the temperature. You can always tell the natives. If it's not above 70, they wear jackets. :) Teva

How many have you visited? Where?

You make it sound like an AANR resort.

None of that is unusual.

A small beach. No trees, no natural shade, no privacy, expensive parking. Often very crowded. Quite commercial, as you mention above. Not what I'd call a nature-laden setting. It does have highly professional, expert publicists.
I liked it too. It's different.

I'd glad you had fun. This was the first place I went nude in public, and it's the first place my wife went topless. Eventually she went nude too.
The new restrooms are much better than temporary trailer they had before. The showers on the beach, while not fancy, are great to get cleaned up before you head to textile land.
We like it because it beats the long walk you have at Gunnison, and $5 parking is very reasonable. So every time we're in South Florida, we go. What's also weird, well not for us nudists, is my wife and I are more comfortable nude at Haulover versus being somewhat clothed on South Beach.
My only bones to pick are: the contruction guys gawking, occasional bizzre activity by gay men, a few time I saw lewd behavior from two women, and the occasional swingers being too friendly. But I'm sure that goes on in many places. Despite this, it's a great beach to be nude, and the water is generally warm.
Generally the older couples are wonderful, and I have found the young couples (my wife and I are in our 30's) to be respectful.

We went to Haulover for the first time last March of 2008. It was one of the nicest beaches we have seen and the weather that day was really great. The people there that day around us were super nice and it seemed like we were on a textile beach other than the fact 95% weren't in swimsuits. Take an umbrella and chair and have yourself a wonderful time!

I would love to move back to south Florida, I would spent alot of time at Haulover. Its a shame that they didn't have Haulover in the 70's when I lived down there.

Pardon my naive question which shows my provincialism, but does the high humidity in the general area of Florida ever get to anyone as they are lying around on the beach? Since I am from the west, that would make me wonder. We have dry air beaches out here, except for when it rains, of course - I ain't no dummy.

warmskin we use to live in south Florida back in the 70's we live about six miles from the beach and always had a nice breeze, don't remember the humidity being high, we now live in metro Atlanta which in the summer has humidity that that competes with the smog.

bodenis, I don't think you're talking about the same beach. Singles are people too BTW. Teva

We visited Haulover two years ago and will be visiting again in April.
Yes there are lot of the guys with the wrap around glasses...Quote from a friend on Gunnison and in there swim trunks. We are ready for them this year! Boyfriend is going to kick some gawking butt.. Not really, but we're not going to take it, and we will be heard!

Sad...but true. I was at Haulover, half-asleep, when I suddenly realized that the guy standing across from me was holding something in his hand pointed at me...which I suddenly realized was some sort of recording device. I gave him my most heinous stare; which seemed to barely even phase him! Strange, and somewhat demeaning to know, as a guy, that there's a guy out there with nude footage of me.
Haulover is a great beach with some great people. But be prepared to get "gawked" at. It also happens at Gunnison; but not to the degree I've seen - and experienced - at Haulover.

I was there mid-week recently and there were few, if any, gawkers. My wife didn't feel entirely comfortable as this was her first time at a "public" beach (we prefer resorts), but we had quite an enjoyable day nonetheless. I suppose had it been a weekend it might have been different. I figure that anyone who wants to gawk at my middle aged body has more serious problems than I'm prepared to deal with.
