Dear Naturist,
The Naturist Action Committee continues to keep close watch on a potentially explosive situation in Florida. The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) of Hillsborough County, Florida, has been presented with a proposal for a new and unnecessary anti-nudity ordinance that threatens naturists directly.
NAC needs your help. On Tuesday, July 29, the commissioners will hold a "workshop" session on the issue, followed by public comment and a vote.
PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND THE MEETING
The Naturist Action Committee strongly urges concerned naturists to attend the meeting on July 29 and to convey their opposition to the ordinance by their presence and their voices.
WHEN : Tuesday, July 29, 6:00 pm. Try to be there a half hour early.
WHERE: The Commissioners' offices and boardroom are located on the 2nd floor of County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa.
BACKGROUND
The proposed ordinance is being pushed by anti-nudity activist David Caton of the Florida Family Association. Caton claims his target to be Tampa's adult entertainment establishments, but the wording of the ordinance directly affects naturists, too.
Adult business interests will be represented, but they don't speak for naturists. Naturists must be heard, too!
CONTACT THE COMMISSIONERS
NAC also asks naturists to contact the Hillsborough County Commissioners. Calls and correspondence from county residents are most valuable, but NAC is asking naturists everywhere to help. The commissioners need to hear from naturists before the July 29 meeting!

SUBJECT: Hillsborough County, Florida meeting
scheduled for tonight has been canceled
TO : All naturists
The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners has CANCELED the workshop session scheduled for 6 o'clock this evening. No official reason has been given.
Unofficially, the commissioners and their staff members are taking a time-out to study the effects of recent court rulings concerning a similar anti-nudity ordinance in Manatee County.
The Naturist Action Committee greatly appreciates the significant volume of telephone calls, e-mails and letters from naturists to the county commissioners! Feedback from the commissioners' offices tells us that those contacts have contributed directly toward a new, more circumspect attitude in the consideration of the proposed ordinance.
No rescheduling of the workshop has been announced.
This issue is by no means dead. Please watch for further Action Alerts, Advisories and Updates from the Naturist Action Committee.

be vigilant. board will try to sneak a hearing with least possible notice to cram their ordinance down people's throats. they backed off when they knew of the organized opposition. keep an eye on these people. worse sneaks than the weasels.
