You forgot about the female spray to the underside of the front of the toilet seat.

I pretty much urinate standing up all the time. Granted that if I am using a toilet, I will raise the seat to avoid it getting stained by my urine stream. If by chance some of the seat is stained by my urine, I find some tissue paper and clean it up to be considerate to the next person who might be using it.

I used to stand to urinate all the time. Then a buddy of mine told me now sits to pee because he doesn't want to splatter urine around the toilet where other people walk. I still stand to pee unless I'm in someone's home. Makes sense.

I only stand when using urinals or on the rare occasions when nature calls away from civilization. Sitting down has 2 advantages - firstly there is no splatter and secondly I always try to poop at the same time. Now isn't that just too much information.

Standing. I know how to work the seat, goes up and goes down. Ladies who complain should learn how to operate it. But then again, I always put the lid down, now she has to learn to put it up and down.

I want to extend and revise my remarks. On Veterans Day, I always stand to pee. It's the patriotic thing to do for us veterans.
How far you can go without destroying from within what you are trying to defend from without?

if i'm trying to hide or get some solitude i'll sit for hours, if i'm not hiing i'll stand,in the pool i'll get out and not pee in it like the other hundred folks and their kids did and in the ocean i will only because i heard it was a shark repellant.

I understand that pee attracts sharks. I swim in the ocean lots and for some distance and its not encouraged by the groups.

For the male of the species, standing allows the urine to flow more freely. This is important to those with prostate problems or other impediments in the plumbing. Why does the male dog (and some other animals) lift his leg up?
When I first posted the above, I used, quite innocently, the verb c o c k, (but typed normally), for the canine action, and a stupid robo-program bleeped it out. I am reminded of a short-lived censorship program in the early 1990s, where the first group it attacked and shut down was a self-help website for breast cancer survivors.
As to the question of the purpose of toilet seat covers. It can help, when closed, to prevent things from falling in that you would have to retrieve. Also, toddlers have died from falling in head-down and not being able to recover.
