Other than being two different looks as a result of religion or custom, it's a controversy over nothing !

Here's one thing to be aware of regarding the "No Circumcision" movement...
some pedophiles areattracted to it and participate in it.

Now, PLEASE DON'T MISUNDERSTAND... I'm not saying most folks involved are pedophiles, or that this in any way reflects on the rightness or wrongness of any side of the debate over circumcision. I'm just saying that if some guy shows lots of interest in your kid's penis, it's time to be very cautious!

Yeah, but aren't some attracted to "cut" too? Why are some especially attracted to the so-called "movement?" I don't get it. Besides, I think anytime somebody shows a lot of interest in my kid's junk it's time to be very cautious, no, it's time to break somebody's knees.

I have heard both sides of the argument for and against circumcision, being a woman I really don't understand one way or the other. Being cut is more aesthetically pleasing to me.

Heard of this one guy who came up with a long procedure to "re-grow" the foreskin. Basicly, he stretches what skin he has until eventually it is long enough to resember foreskin. I'm not sure why it was felt as necessary to begin circumcision of virtually all baby boys way back when nor why it's become such a big deal. If it was for viable medical reasons, then wouldn't it have been cheaper to have waited till it was a medical necessity? As for not having it done to your own son, I strongly doubt a hospital would do it to your son if you explicitly request that procedure not be done. If they do and you have your request in writing, you may have grounds for a lawsuit, especially if it goes against your religion. What has me scared is the import from parts of Africa and the Middle East of a form of women's circumcision. Heard a case of it being done here by someone from Africa. Biggest difference is it isn't done by a doctor and they don't just remove some excess skin, they cut away the clitorious. In some cases, young girls' vaginas were stitched shut to ensure to their future husband or owner that they are a virgin. Kind of makes the issue of extra skin or no extra skin a little paultry.

I think female mutilation in those countries is horrible. Hopefully one of these days it will be banned.

I remeber when my boys were born, I think they asked my hubby if he wanted them circumcised. Its a normal hospital procedure for boys. I think one of the reasons its performed at birth is the baby is already there and its a simple quick nearly painless procedure. Its probably a harder procedure with a grown man.

Kim,

That't the way it was and is in our family(us,our kids and relatives) both from the perspective of the husband and wife. In fact, it's the women who don't what their sons to be different from their male friends. Further, like you, they(the women) prefer the cut man as being more attractive.

I agree with you Cheri, but I understand there are still some countries in which female circucision is still practiced.

Kim,

I'm afraid we won't see an end to it in those countries during our lifetime.

Slavery is also banned but it still goes on in parts of Africa and the middle east. Banning means nothing if the government and people don't work to put an end to the practice.

Some cultures have been doing it for centuries, and the government finally cracks down on them. They just go underground and continue the practice.
