I have to agree will calmnude and cheef. Never paid that much attention to how a person was sitting or laying for that matter. But I have noticed there is just no graceful way to get out of those pesky lounge chairs

In response to JerrySue, So what are you really saying?? be normal, don't worry about things, whatever you want to do, do it, except sex or sexual in nature? I think everyone posting on this matter would agree with you, the question and issue is to what degree can we women behave the same way as you guys. While everyone is different and there is no right or wrong way, except behaving sexual in nature (whatever that means these days), we all can spread or not spread out legs, or be more overt than maybe some other people. What we really should be talking about, is that whatever form of expression is comfortable for that couple or woman or man, let it be, without making judgments. At the end, people do whatever they think they want to do, feel comfortable or get away with it. Just like in ordinary life. Cindiee

There is a différence with having your legs naturaly open and having them un-naturaly open.. (split position)
Your body finds his own way for a comfortable posture..
Be respectful... Be natural... Be yourself...

As I lay on my back to tan, my toes and knees point outward exposing not only my groin area but also the inner thigh area, the area that usually gets the least amount of sun even when nude. Then if anyone says anything about my crotch being open, I'd just tell them the truth. I'd be perfectly fine with women doing the same. Only time I got uncomfortable was when this one lady (using word loosely) sat on the edge of the hot tub, spread her legs like in a porno, and opened up herself to show us her new piercings. There was no need for her to open up that wide that I could see she was no longer a virgin. But it was an interesting piercing. It was above the clit and shaped like a zipper pull piece so when her legs were closed (which wasn't often enough) it looked like she'd zipped up. Don't get me wrong, I do like looking but normally to look that deeply is with someone I care about and in private.

She probably got a kick out of the amature gynecologists sailordave. I think what you just stated sailordave is what started this thread.

No one in this discussion has mentioned that there is a quite relevant difference in hip hinging between the sexes, Men are physiologically more comfortable with legs further apart than most women normally are. The cultural background is difficult ti seperate, but the physical structure question is real.

We recently stayed in a resort in France. There the people did not worry about how they sun bathed, legs open or closed no one cared. There was also a young fellow who was absolutely besotted with his new girl friend and was having the odd erection problem he was very careful about it but again no one was really up set.

Hi Cheri,
I read all the posts and wanted to see what your opinion is on this subject now since your last couple of posts(about 3 years ago.)
Seems like it would not be an issue for men or women who want to sit crossed legged, lay spread eagle, etc...do many really think about this as an issue?
I always enjoy sitting crossed legged if I am sitting on the rug (it's comfortable for me.) I suppose laying in the sun with legs spread, should be also a matter of comfort.
What is your opinion now (a few years later??)
Also, other women in this forum, is it really an issue in the nudist communities/resorts/beaches?
(I do not know.)

Imnude2, I feel the same way. I feel it's more proper for a lady to not lay out spread eagle when with others. Just my 2 cents. Cheri

Trouble is, if we as nudists feel the need to be careful about our leg postures, are we falling into the trap of adopting a mind set that our bodies have parts which should not be seen. Is this a view which leans toward a "textile" attitude rather than a naturist one?
Just a thought.
