Chic, I agree with you, Jersey Shore is the best

I'm a Philly boy, but have to voice dissension here. The Jersey Shore has its positives, but it pales by comparison to every Caribbean beach I've ever visited. First, sand made from coral instead of rock is powdery and pleasant... a wonderful thing! Second, water that is clear and warm is far better than water that is cold and murky. Third, it's much nicer to swim with brightly colored tropical fish than with medical waste.

I tend to agree with you Cheef, something about relaxing on beach with sand the colour of sugar, turquois blues water, palm trees, laying in the sun with an ice cold margarita.

Cheef, I agree the Caribbean beaches are special, but it cost a few bucks to get there, so we don't do it that often. So the Jersey Shore, especially the Wildwoods with their deep and expansive beaches, is the place for us. Also, other out-of-staters must agree, there are many vacationers from PA,MD,NY and believe it or not 100's from Quebec,Canada! The only frustration is that it's seasonal.

Well, the other frustration is that it's CLOTHED (at least in the Wildwoods). I'm just still extremely unhappy that they closed down Higbee Beach. That was a great nude beach for decades and decades.

Gunnison (Sandy Hook), of course, still exists... but it's sometimes a little wild for me. Even more, finding a parking space (or even being allowed into Sandy Hook) involves getting up way too early in the morning for me.

Re Sany Hook, your right on Cheef, and the traffic in that area is horrendous on the weekends. It's just not worth the effort, except when were staying with friends in the area, but it's still a tough haul.

Cheef and chic, points well taken. I have visited beaches in Pacific and in Caribbean and they are no match for NJ beaches. However, when one can't get to Caribbean, Sandy Hook is alright.

It would be nice to go to the Caribbean anytime we wanted, but alas its out of the question. I am just thankful we have Wreck beach close by.

By the way, we're headed for the Caribbean in a few days which will include the beaches in St Martin.

Laura, I also enjoy going to Sandy Hook in the summer. Not many other better ways to spend a summer day. I can't wait for the warmer weather.
