Hi

I've seen lots about the how and where of shaving but never the why and when. Not why in the sense of "I prefer it that way" but in that one day you must have been hairy and next day you weren't. So what made you take the jump?

In my own case, we went away for two weeks at Almanat in southern Spain. It was a long way from our first nude experience but it was the first time of two weeks.
I'd noticed that many men had started trimming themselves and I'd also noticed, since first seeing it at Cap d'Agde five or six years ago, that some men shaved completely. So for this trip to Spain I cut my hair to about half length.

Unknown to me, my wife shaved off almost all her bush just before we went. I loved it and said so and she shaved off the rest. She said I looked better trimmed and so I trimmed myself a bit more, and on my chest as well, until all that remained was a shallow crew-cut.

I kept it up when we got home. I also reduced the actual area of hair. By now I was thinking of shaving completely. Quite a few of the men at Almanat had shaved and the idea appealed.

It finally happened by mistake. I ran a razor over what remained and inadvertently cut off more than I planned. There were only a few strands left and so, a day later, I broke off lying in the sun and came indoors and shaved off what remained. That was almost two years ago and I've stayed shaved ever since.

I like the look, obviously, or I wouldn't have done it. But there was also a rite of passage, something that made me unmistakably a naturist. Others saw it for the first time when I went with friends to a camp site here in France. I wasn't afraid or ashamed that they'd see me shaved but, inevitably, it was a first step.

I went back to the same site by myself last year. By chance, everyone round the pool was shaved, men, women, teenagers and all. I've never seen that before.

After an hour or two a British couple arrived. I'm French and most other people round the pool were Dutch. The British pair, in their 40s I'd say, settled at the pool. They were unshaved, although she had gone in for some topiary.

People come and go and after half an hour this couple got up, leaving their towels, and wandered off. Twenty minutes later, they came back.

Shaved.

I couldn't help smiling. I bet I wasn't the only one to notice. I just wish I'd heard the conversation that led to it.

Back in 2002 when I had a heart attack and quad bypass, they shaved everything south of my mustache.

We both shave and have been smoothies for many years. Number one reason, is we both enjoy the look, especially tanned.

nothing feels better than the warm sun on 100% of the body!

After my college soccer career I took up cycling to stay in shape so shaved my legs then so pulling off bandages didn't hurt so much. Then triathlons meant shaving more to prevent drag while swimming. Then my wife joked that you may as well shave off whats left! That was almost 30 years ago and still bare as I was born. Since then triathletes wear wet suits and have all kind of fancy stuff, I just wore a Speedo, used a 10 speed and running shoes. Oh, for the simple days!

I first did it for reasons that are not allowed to be discussed here, but I continue because I feel overall like a better looking guy

I originally asked my wife if she would shave her pubes. She said no but she would allow me to shave her. I liked it enough to ak her if she old shave me a couple weeks later. She said yes and I really enjoyed the look and the feeling. It was easier showering too. After that I would keep trimmed for a couple years. I decided o again to try a total pubic shave and have been that way for numerous years now. The wife prefers herself with the natural look. Darn it!

Ok...I'll chime in.
I was married at the time; my wife and I were a couple of years into our marriage and nudist lifestyle. I really wasn't much into the smooth style; I trimmed but only about 40%. My wife did about the same. The topic had come up with some nudist friends, who hadn't really embraced it either. I figured being smooth was not for me.
Then one day at the resort I had a conversation about it with a shaven nudist, and I listened to his point of view about being smooth. So I got in my head to at least try it once. Just one time. I brought it up to my wife a couple of times; and she told me to just go ahead and try it out. And so I did. And I must admit...I really didn't like the way it looked. Ironically, my wife actually DID like the way it looked. She asked me how it felt. And yes; it felt somehow cleaner and "lighter." I still didn't really like the way it looked; but I did like the way it felt (and I don't mean sexually).
Then, a few evenings later, my wife asked me if I was planning on staying smooth. I just shrugged my shoulders "sure...ok" and hit the razor while showering. She then jumped in the shower after me; came out a little while later and just said "don't laugh" before entering the bedroom. I didn't laugh. She was completely shaven. I thought it looked really good on her and told her so. It turned out she'd really wanted to try it out for herself after she saw me smooth. Just like that, we now were both completely smooth.

Years ago (my wife and I are both 54) I asked her if she would shave to see what it looked like. She said "sure, but you first" I really don't think she thought I would do it, (but she should know better than that) - next day it was done. What could she say now? We've been mostly smooth since. I like the look of it on both of us. actually I like the look of it on all folks. Somehow a big bush just seems out of place now.

well they say its a fad and probably true for most but i think if you stay smooth for a year its hard to let it grow back, i'm going on about five years and don't think i'll ever let it grow back.

Why and when?

Why ... we did it for us, just for us and not anyone else.

When ... way, way, way back before Playboy made it a fashion. Over 25 years ago.

Loves being naked. Plays well with others!

Been clean shaved for many years. When one spends time where there are insects that like dark/damp areas, it takes too long to 'search' for them with hair. Shaving make the search much quicker. Beside the side effects are that it 'just feels good'!

Shaved occasionally during university and the years immediately following - late 80s and doing triathlons, an excuse for shaving not just my legs! Several years later I began trimming, but kept the shrubbery. Had a vasectomy a few years ago and had to shave before the procedure - doc said I didn't have to shave so much! - and that was the last time I can remember hair down there. Keep a trimmed patch above and legs are hairy, but I shave the rest from front to back. I think it looks good and I like the feeling. Ultimately, isn't that what matters?

1992, I was laying on the operating table and the surgical nurse came in and said I'm going to shave you now for surgery. Soon I was bare as a baby's bottom. I loved the feeling, it was as if every nerve ending in my pubic and genital area suddenly awoke from a deep sleep. Oh, I was having a vasectomy.

Last month when my wife and I took the social nudity plunge and seeing other nudist men smooth, off it came and have been smooth ever since. I don't like the Folliculitis that follows shaving so we are undergoing LASER hair removal so we won't have to worry so much about shaving.

We first shaved back in the 90's when we became nudists socially. Before then we had only trimmed from time to time. After being around so many smooth nudists we decided to try it because we thought the look might be preferable. Once we did become smoothies we enjoyed the look but especially the feel, and we have been smoothies since then in the 90's.
Now we cannot imagine letting the bush grow back. It just feels more clean and overall just more comfortable for us.
