average joe, There are 3 MO clubs that are AANR affiliated: Bare Hunters, a nonlanded club that meets all year long, and two landed clubs (those with permanent facilities): Show Me Acres in Stover, 573/377-4348 & 40 Acres in Lonedell, just west of St. Louis, 636-629-0050.

I believe the landed clubs are now closed for the season.

There are also clubs in KS, but don't know if they operate all year long.

Depending on how far you want to drive. Oaklake Trails, 1/2 way between Tulsa & OK City is open all year long.

You might go to http://www.nudistparksusa.net and insert your zip code o see what's near you as well and also go to http://www.naturist.com to see those affiliated with The Naturist Society.

Not everyone is open to the idea of nudism. There have been court cases over the years that have vilified nudism in regard to children's participation, often with divorced or divorcing couples in which one partner suddenly becomes an avid anti-nudist.

average joe...

I appreciate your comments. A clothing optional existence strikes friends and family in different ways. Several responses. First, what you do in your own home with your own children is not a matter for government intervention or social services. I assume that your kids are happy, healthy and well-adjusted. A casual attitude towards wearing clothes (or not) is not a matter for anyone to choose but your immediate family. Second, what precisely do you mean that friends "run"? I expect that coworkers who are EMS specialists have seen all manner of exposed human skin. The age issue is a non-issue, but you have every reason to reject social nudity where there are sexual overtones. You might well want to visit the very family oriented 40 acres club next season.

Average Joe raises an interesting point about telling friends of our lifestyle. I know of many people who don't agree with social nudity and as such I choose not to tell those people about my choice of lifestyle. I think do you have to be sensitive about those you tell and those you don't, and importantly respect their beliefs.

Cheers,

Spontanudity;

I agree with you, some people are going to be against naturism/nakedism no matter what, so its a waste of time to tell them. We tell people that are close to us about our nudism, family, close friends, etc. Others its on a need to know basis.

Kim,

Saying that, I've got some really close friends that I wouldn't tell. I think some people are more likely to accept it than others, regardless of how well you know them.

I think you've got to be really cautious about who you tell. There are many out there who will judge you for being a nudist. Some may even be extreme enough to feel that you shouldn't be around children because you're a nudist. As a teacher, I'm very careful not to tell anyone related to my profession that I'm a nudist. I don't know how the administration of my school would react to that so I just keep it to myself. It's not like being a nudist effects my teaching in a negative way, so why bring it up? Especially in a society that condemns those whe are different.

Melissa,

Its kind of like how homosexual teachers had issues with "coming out" in the late 80's. I think its pretty much socially acceptable now... I wonder if naturism will follow the same path.

Melissa;

I understand your predicament, teachers are role models for kids. I a have friend that was a teacher in the US, and got into trouble because he read playboy. Hopefull one of these days nudity will be accepted here as it is in some parts of Europe.

Kim,

That sounds a little strange. Did he have the Playboy at school? If not, how would anybody know that he read it?

Members from Forty Acres correct me if I'm wrong, please, but my wife and I attended functions this time of year at their facility. When we asked on the web site, they told us the club was open to visits from couples year round.

Spontanudity;

He didn't have the Playboy at school, but he quoted some articles from Playboy that he had read. The principle of the school said she didn't think that teachers should be reading that trash. She was concerned that her female students were not safe with him.

During the winter months, the only thing that's open is the clubhouse for socializing. Several of their members (with whom I'm personally acquainted) travel to Florida in the winter months.

What a teacher (or anybody for that matter) does in their own home (providing that its legal) should be of no concern to anybody, including their employer.

average joe,

You and your wife have been nude since the day you were born, you've just been hiding that fact with clothes. :)

I get some snickers, funny looks, some resistance and some downright STUPID remarks from some people too. I think we all do. I would avoid telling those that may take exception to the idea of social nudity. You know the people around you the best. Use your best judgement with them. If you think they will disaprove or try to cause problems, they probably will. It's none of their business anyway.

You'll find lots of friends and sympathetic ears here. That's a good start. Welcome to the group!

Try going to "FORUMS MENU" on the top of the page, "ALL FORUMS", and scroll away. You'll find naturist organizations, naturist resorts, conservative naturist resorts, the list goes on.
