One thing that bugs the hell out of me, are the phrases like "Official" "Unofficial" "Legal" "Illegal" nude beaches. All of the tags change at the whim of politicians.
Just call them what they are: nude beaches.

But if we used that logic, Rabbit, there'd be lots more people being cited, possibly placed on a sexual preditors list or worse ... jailed.
I think it's important for us to use those labels to help each other find nude beaches that are "Official, unofficial, tolerated ..." and which ones are "illegal and not tolerated."
Our beach, San Onofre State Beach, Trail 6, was an unofficial/tolerated nude beach for over 35 years. It's now off limits, not tolerated and you can and will be cited if seen using that portion naked. Some people will take the risks ... many others will not, have discontinued to visit and gone elsewhere. Without "labels" some may have continued to visit and been cited unnecessarily.
With regards to our nude beach ... I'm not sure you can blame the "politicians." The attack on our beach was from an overzealous ranger and his supervisor . They concocted the lies that were sent to the Director of Parks and REc that sent down the order for them to stop the nudity. The director was appointed by the Governor but I wouldn't call the director a politician.
Loves being naked. Plays well with others!
