We've stayed at Copal a few times, and heard that they'd scaled down, but we thought we'd try it anyway.
Well, Copal doesn't exist anymore. Instead, they have moved their operation to Azulik next door.
They have a very skinny rocky beach, but nudity is still accepted, but the little real estate the beach has, we opted to stay on the deck. The accommodations are very rustic and open. When we were there the weather wasn't great and was a but damp and cold as the cabanas are pretty open. Not an issue when its hot as it is most of the time.
Sadly copal is now papayaplaya and has a sign that says absolutely clothing is mandatory. Even though the beach is federal, we chose not to lock horns and went further south.
We stayed a fair bit at Ahau in the day. A beautiful resort and further down the beach. There was a lot of topless bathers and the odd naked stroller. A few ppl took of their bathers and went skinny dipping, but it wasn't common.
Early morning or late afternoon was best.
The road south to Cesiak, our usual haunt, was pretty badly damaged, but we still managed the odd day there as there's still very few people down in Sian Kaan. It took us about 30mins just to reach Cesiak. It is beautiful though.
We topped off our stay in town as we heard it was CO. They had an enclosed garden and pool and there were a couple of topless girls sunbathing when we arrived then when we came back that evening there was a small group that were naked in the pool, but we left early next morning so never got to ask for sure.
There's a new apartment complex in town called Mak Nuk that is CO, just opened. It's not on the beach though.
We also heard of a new beach club. Not actually on the beach, but on the beach road called Por Que No? Its a new CO bar and pool near the entrance to the biosphere on the jungle side of the road, i think it's just opened.... Will check it out on our next trip down!

There is also Villa Dolce Vita just up the coast from Tuluum. Nice B&B (not related to us) on Soliman Bay. It is C/O and sits right on the private beach. Not the place if you want lots of activity, but really nice to enjoy the sunshine naturally. We've stayed there and can recommend it.
Enjoy the sunshine!
