I wonder why this is even being discussed..oh well love melissa so know why she put it here another thought provoking subject..i have seen seats that are split that is to say the seat is more of a horseshoe shape..don't see many or any those these days..I used to catch hell too when I forgot when I was married.

In my house the rule is that the seat will be down before and after. We have two dogs who sleep with us and two cats who sleep wherever they please, so the seat-down is for their protection. It probably wouldn't hurt them to drink out of the toilet but I wouldn't want my dogs to lap my face right after getting a drink. In the middle of the night with no lights on I check just to make sure so I don't fall in.

I think it's easier to go with the seat down always policy. Skeptic, you are right, if the seat is down at night, with no lights, no one goes for a "swim".

Has anyone ever thought of a night light for the potty?

There are those night lights that can be plugged into the electrical outlets in the wall.

Yes Kimberly,
It's funny we didn't do this when our daughters lived at home, but have now installed plug in night lights in the master bathroom, the guest bathroom and in the hallways so "we" can see better at night.

I have a small nightlight that comes on when it senses motion. It's handy, doesn't use much electricity, and goes off 1 min. after all motion ceases. I have it plugged into an outlet in my bathroom. Because it's bulb is not too bright, it doesn't blind you when it comes on.

Right Calmnude, nothing like running into the wall at 3 AM when you have to go to the bathroom.

If we have any inventors in our midst, how about a glow-in-the-dark toilet seat. That way, if you had an extended stay, you could read without reaching for the light switch.

That would help Dave. If you didn't see the light then you know the lid is down!
Skeptic who fills a pot that full of pasta anyway? Never had a problem with pouring pasta from the pot to the colander. I would recommend that you not do it in the nude though, or at least wear an apron.
