Actually, I like the lid down, too. In my house I have 2 cats, one of them not so bright. Little Hannah, as a kitten, used to fall in the toilet repeatedly. So in this house we keep the lid down to keep Hannah safe and dry. :)

I guess you'll have to settle for training little Hannah to use the litter box if she can't keep her balance 
The other problem is getting your cats to flush

Interestingly, my female cat Hannah has such bathroom issues: she falls in the toilet and the tub, yesterday she got stuck on top of the toilet between the toilet top and the etegare while I was fixing the ball pump in the toilet, and she loves to play with the toilet paper. Yet my male cat, Caleb, has no bathroom issues. I guess gentleman CAN be better than ladies in the bathroom.

Well to continue on. In the middle of the night I make my way to the bathroom in the dark. There is enough ambient light around to see. I don't even bother to turn on the bathroom light. I feel for the seat (just in case I left it up) and sit down for business. Since I sleep in the nude I don't have to worry about looking for anything and I can't miss. Seat stays down and my wife is pleased.
My wife lived with four males (dad, 3 brothers) and she the only girl besides her mother saw it as no big deal checking for the seat. Again as the only woman in the house of one husband and two sons it was for her on defense to check for the seat position up or down it's no big deal for her.
Does anybody else make their way and use the bathroom in the dark?

whizzo, We live rural and have no light polution. I do not turn on the light if I have to go to the bathroom, but I usually do check as my husband is not as yet trained.
Interesting at work today: There are about 26 of us on the 2nd floor at work and most of us are female. I guess I must have been the first one to use the near stall as the seat was up. I almost fell in. LOL It wasn't that funny at the time, but it is now.

A simple household rule of "always put the seat and lid down" provides equity, looks better, reduces the spread of germs and most importantly, avoids accusations of "You left the seat choose your dispised position here!"

Well Melissa;
It's not stranger than fiction, but ladies do not put the cover down on the toilet. Bother's me - Yes. I really do not like to look at the "deposit area" when I go into the bathroom to brush my teeth. That seems to be a major female problem, since the last 3 wives could not get it correct.
Sorry; well, not really. Make a choice and find someone you can can control day and night. Being nude is supposed to be fun, not nasty and picky.

Kauai, hopefully you're just havin' a bad day where little thing's get under your skin.
For me, this is a kinda' fun forum. My rear-end almost falling into the toilet when I wasn't fully awake crack's me up! It's life, it's what people do...We screw up all the time!
That does it. I'm going to pay closer attention to whether I put 'it' up or down...Or should I?

You know, when I think about, no one in my family has enforced the "seat down" rule with me. Not my mother, sister, stepmother, stepsisters, aunts, or grandmothers ever told me to leave the seat down for them. Neither did any of my ex-girlfriends. Nor does my wife, sister-in-law, or mother-in-law.
Obviously I wasn't raised right. Or more likely, they just consider me a hopeless barbarian who's beyond redemption. Maybe that's why I like hanging out with you guys!
