Spontanudity,
If I'm ever so brave as to venture in to a man's turf/ bathroom, I will be sure to leave the seat up. When a man visits the ladies room I'm hoping he'll be just as polite. :)

After living in a dorm where you share a bathroom with another male you learn to put the seat up, its hard to do that after growing up with 3 women in the house and still from time to time i realize that i forgot to put it up because my sweet mate pisses all over the seat. So to be assured there are some of us men that will put it down, then there are some that will make all of us look bad. Jimmy

maybe we need a bidet in the bathroom, then we won't have to worry about putting down the seat??

from a logical mind, since a woman is shorter it would be easier for her to reach the seat on her way down into the sitting position, and to lift the seat on her way up to standing position, but alas, logic has no business in a bathroom. Ha!Ha! just kidding ladies.

The solution that has worked for our family (Mom/Dad/Daughter) for the last 20 plus years is everyone puts down BOTH the seat and cover when finished. That way, everyone has to open it to one degree or another to use it. Everyone is equally inconvenienced and no one falls in because they know what the default starting position is. I haven't heard a scream in the middle of the night for decades....

Hmmm... not sure I buy the idea that inconveniencing everybody is the best way to do things. However, I love the idea, because it solves the problem of fall-ins and because I like the nicety of having the lid down.

I've been putting both seats down ever since I got my first apartment in 1997. I've yet to pee on the seat, though I guess there is a first time for everything and this is something I can look forward to. :)

With the lid down, I meant some dumb some guy would pee on it! My poor point, was that we males do have the need to be considerate and leave the seat up!

hello i really dont mean to be an "a" h---. but i guess im lucky . you see my girlfriend / soon to be fiance is the 4th youngest with a house of four boys and two girls . so.... when it comes to the "toilet seat issue" it is not a big deal she says it's fickle and petty but when i do forget sometimes because i am human she doesnt make an ordeal about it . i dont say anything about her hair in the drain or her bloody tam---- in plain view in the garbage. so in closing... to forgive and forget is a fable and to err is human and live with em live with out em is a choice
guy cass im not being mean im just one of the lucky ones i guess

I haven't seen a guy pee on the lid yet, but have had to clean the seat off a few times first. I don't care how good your aim is, the seat usually gets splattered. I hate getting sticky buns!

Kim,
Now you have raised the real reason why we males should raise the lid after our use, male splatter. Right on ladies!
