One of our members offered this information in another forum:
"One thing about Haiti, if you wanted to go nude you probably could as no one really cares or so it seemed. Everyone relaxes natural. Only when visitors come do the people put something on. Sometimes not..."

I can tell you a little about the people on the Black Sea Coast of Europe... where I am from. They think nothing of being nude on a beach as well as many other places. A nude woman is considered something of great beauty... and her being nude is not something to be ever be ashamed of in any way. I was very surprised when I came to the United States and found that women here seem to have such a difficult time with being nude and accepting their bodies..!

No one is the same... but everyone is beautiful and should certainly feel comfortable with their own body..!

I created the Diablo Sun Devils to try and help women feel comfortable being nude socially... I think everyone should be. Men don't seem to have any problem at all with being nude... but women here seem to be looked down upon as if they should feel ashamed for showing their body... and I really think that is a bit backwards... don't you..?

You'd be surprised at the number of men who have wives or girlfriends who are interested in nudism, but they are not.

Women are usually the reluctant ones, but even as recent as yesterday a lady contacted me saying she wanted to join without her husband.

Men are generally the ones suggesting nudism, but when the ladies get involved, they are the more adamant nudists.

I agree completly Cheri... I think that women really do enjoy naturism more than men.

I have a question for you though... do you allow a married person... male or female... to join your club without the spouse..? I only ask this as we have a policy not to allow that. Actually we have never had a woman wanting to join without their husband... but we have had several men apply to join without the wife..!

Vera, Often the spouse who wants to be part of the group says that he/she knows the spouse doesn't want to even without asking. That's the part that concerns me. As long as we meet the reluctant spouse and he/she is aware of what we really are, I've no problem with married singles. I've only had two in our 16-1/2 yrs.

Hi Cheri, New to group and I love it already. You are doing a great job. I am one of those men with a reluctant wife and I just keep trying to get her involved in nudisum/naturism. I have started a group called Married Naturist singles. It is a Christian group so don't care for the perverts and gays to join in unless they are Christian. It's not a group for getting connected for sex or erotic pleasure but a way to promote nudisum/naturisum in a Christian setting. I hope to be able to get those that are married and feel like a single when it comes to nudisum/naturisum to help each other. The group is open to all who are in this situation. I would like to get some women involved to share their point of view with us men. The group is at

Please make an attempt to post in the best topics. The things you folks are saying here are both useful and interesting to nudists, but they'll never find it under this topic! This shows that we need a new singles topic. Done. Now let's get this one back on thread...

This particular topic is a place to share your experiences of nudist attitudes around the world. Have you traveled to another nudist country? Add something here by clicking Reply to Topic.

The original question was about other countries. In response, I spent five weeks in eastern France in the mid 1980s. I was able to observe both the French and Germans which are surprisingly different in attitude. The French are very casual about semi-nudity such as wearing only underwear in public. An American wife and teenage daughter were required to get a physical exam before getting a residency permit. When they went to the doctor's office in Metz, they both excorted to a changing room and asked to undress. To their surprise there was no gowns available for their use. When the nurse returned, she told them to take off their underwear and walk down the hall to the examination room. To the mother's surprise both she and her daughter received a complete gynocholgical exam in each others presence. The mother's comment afterward was one of great offense until her daughter told her that she did not mind and appreciated her mother's presence during her first time being examined.

Around the public pools, it is very common for women to go topless while sunning and a few will put their top on when walking around, most don't. Nudity, is central France appears to be a family thing. During the summer, families will journey out to the countryside and have a picnin away from the road and others. In this case many families enjoy being nude as a group.

The south of France beaches are a different thing. The saying goes, if all the Germans and English went home the topless and nude beaches would be deserted. The typical Frenchman is very prowd when his female companion is willing to go topless. Regarding the Germans, I have limited knowledge. However, I visited a noted German spa area and as we walked along we passed a sports center with a ladies aerobics class clearly visible through floor to ceiling windows. The twenty some odd ladies were only wearing sock and shoes and were clearly nude and visible to passers by.

My companion, a european resident, said this would be typical in Germany. Public nudity is quite common with no one giving it any thought. In this spa area, the hotel pools were quite private to the public because so many hotel guests were nude.

In general nudity is normal and very accepted in parts of Europe. Other areas are similar to the US.

On my recent trips to Chile I have been very surprised. On one occasion there was a couple kissing and touching in the water and I was like "good lord" but the rest of the people on the beach didn't seem to mind at all. That was truly astonishing and the second I noticed I told my aunt that we should get out of there but she said it was nothing to get riled up about. My goodness! ! ! !

I've been to both southern Germany and southern France. They seem very casual about their nudity. There are a small number of nudists at the English Garden in Munich. At a number of German hotels there were spas/saunas. Everyone was nude sitting on a towel in the sauna. It did not seem unusual or uncomfortable to them or to us as Americans.

Germany
In every bigger town there are areas (not hidden) which are cloth optional.
topless on a regular beach is not a problem, no matter what age or body.
it is common for small children to run around naked on a regular beach.
In the old days when we were still 2 different countries, the eastern part had a big nudist movement. It was their kind of freedom, since they were not allowed to travel west.
If you ever stumble over the German term FKK this means Frei (free) Körper (body) Kultur (culture)
Nazi Germany was big with the FKK movement and had a slogan "in a healthy body is a healthy mind"

To show affection is no problem, sometimes you see even old couples holding hands...

Nudity is openly displayed on and in magazines, even tv guides.
We do not cover things, no not even nipples.

In German tv you see naked people in normal scenes, funny though, American movies are not the cut version you see in the USA, they show even frontal nudity and sex scenes.
We have several sexual orientated tv shows on normal tv, but mostly you see no erected penis.

When they show scenes from nude beaches, before 10 pm there is no cut or cover up and people react the same as with cloth on.

I guess the most advanced is the Netherlands.
Most Dutchman are into camping.
The country with the less window dressing in the world.
Nearly no rules against anything pornography.
It is legal to by weed in licenses coffee houses and such.
They are very open in all sexual kind of things and educate the children early in school about sex and unwanted pregnancy.
No wonder the Netherlands is the country with the least teenager pregnancies.
(check the statistics in the USA and you will understand some things better)
Abortion is legal, so when there was a issue about that in Germany bus loads of pregnant women were traveling to the Netherlands.
I have no idea about religion, but I think it is not a big topic there.

There is not one Switzerland.
There are 3 parts of the Swiss with the alps in the middle.
The Italian, French and German Swiss.
The Italian is laid back and very Mediterranean.
The French is more open like the France. (If you know St. Maarten in the Caribbean, the French side is the nude side with club Orient)
The German Swiss is the bank Swiss and very correct and if you seen Heidi, that is the romantic part of it.
