I am wondering the 2013 status of San Onofre, trail 6 beach. Are they ticketing nude sunbathers this year?
Are there other clothing optional beaches between San Diego and Los Angeles where we could go this summer for our vacation?

yes ... the rangers are still ticketing nude sunbathers on San Onofre, Trail 6. You might get away with it down south of the fenceline but haven't been down there is quite some time. Yes, there's another nude beach and it hasn't been targeted yet by the authorities to the point of issuing tickets ... Black's Beach, north of La Jolla, directly across from UCSD.

People behaving badly and the fact that there are so many more of them. A beach with a thousand visitors is a completely different place than a beach with 25,000 visitors. And yet development continues unabated, even in a subdued economy. All of which leads to sitting on overcrowded freeways waiting to get to the overcrowded beaches..."in the warm California sun."

San O is hurting. I've been told by die hard San O visitors that parking lot 6 is the ONLY parking lot with enough cars and using your fingers and toes more than once to count. This is the way it was and always has been with San O. Parking lot 6 and Trail 6 was the most used area of the state beach. On a weekend ... there were as many people on the nude section of the beach as there was for 2.5 miles of textile beach. What does that tell you? AND ... in an 18 month period ... there were ONLY 13 citations for lewd conduct. 13 citations in 18 months with literally 10's of thousands of nude beach goers in that same time frame. The idiocy of the rangers, the parks superintendent, the director of P and R for the state ... they had their heads so far up their butts that they couldn't see that the nudists were what was keeping San O open, thriving and paying their salaries. The "shotgun" effect doesn't take care of the problem, as San O is a good example. Stop ALL nude use and now the park sees very little and sometimes, no use!
It's also sad that we have "nudists" that sit by idlly and watch some of this "bad behavior" and say nothing, condone it and watch it ... and say nothing. Those nudists are just as much at fault for us losing this beach as those partaking in the "bad behavior" ... but ... I preaching to the choir! :D

San O has really gone down hill. Seems more of a "defunct nude beach now". Grant it you can get away with being naked a bit further down the way. But just doesn't seem the same. I see most of the "vollyball crowd" now at Glen Eden..which is great, but not for San O.
A few weekends ago our youngest was home from college and went down there with a group of friends. A few of the girls were topless and a few fully nude. A ranger came by and gave them hassle. Being her "mothers daughter" L' gave the guy a mouthful and they left. When she got home she asked me "what happened to things down there?"
A sad end to a great beach where our girls practically grew up.

But this goes hand in hand with the other topic regarding "clothing at nude resorts." Nudists stop going and using the beach and that's what ended San O's use, on that section.
I admit, I tried and then was asked, by my wife, not to go and get a ticket and fight it in court. With my wife still working and not wanting that type of "publicity" ... I respected her wishes and didn't do it. I also retreated and went to Black's. Although ... "we" visited San O and went just south of the fence line a few times after the rangers initially started writing tickets. She became concerned when rangers gave us the "I wish I could ticket you right now," look as we left the Pendleton section of the beach and walked to the parking lot. That was the end for us at San O.
I'm hopeful the the Friends of San Onofre Beach and NAC are successful with their current talks with DPR officials, which I've been told is continually happening and progressing.

Man, where have they all the CA nudists disappeared to? The young people seem to be uninterested, and I guess the hippies are too old to make it down the cliffs? And then there are tickets for those who do...
It boggles the mind that a gigantic "liberal" city like LA doesn't have a single nude beach anymore.

The whole idea of "coming out" of the closet applies to nudists as well and I think most nudists are more concerned about coming outta the closest then gay people were afraid of their coming out.
Where are all those nudists? ... they prefer to go to clubs and resorts where it's "safer." Lesser chance of being seen or found out ... I guess. There are younger people that may be checking the nude beaches out to see what's going on but I still think that nudity for many of those under 35-40 ... are still in it for the sexual charge and when they see that the vast majority of those at these venues are their parents and grandparents ages ... they decide NOT to get undressed and participate.
It's their loss. We just need to keep going, keep stripping and keep our naked presence everywhere we can.

We have three daughters under 30 who are certainly "full blown nudists", So they are out there. Our girls are quite outgoing as well, and have "converted" most of their friends into the lifestyle. Like I mentioned above, Our daughter, home from college, was just down at San O a few weeks ago with 5 of her girlfriends and they were nude. Not to mention they were all quite comfortable hanging around our backyard pool nude as well. Does our daughter happen to hang out with a pretty liberal crowd?.. perhaps. Is it a lot of her influence as a strong, confident young woman to her piers, for sure. But there is a younger generation of nudists out there, maybe just not as prevalent as we might like.

I'm certain your daughter's are a rare breed. I don't see many "nudist" couples raising their kids as you did your's. The only upside for us was that, what we instilled in them at an early age, must have stuck, somewhat. At least the oldest "dabbles" in it but the youngest is ready to jump back in with both feet up to her neck.
Did your daughters say anything about the beach? Were there lots of people? Obviously south of the fence line, but did they have any trouble with rangers when they left?
I just need to get down there and visit for the day.

You can always try some of our Northern California beaches, you Southerners. hehe.
I'm going to try the Red Rock ocean beach. It's cooler there typically in the summer because of the durned fog, but often enough the sun will come out, especially later on in the fall. I hear the folks at that beach are fairly friendly.
So, migrate on up this way if all else fails down south.
I do wish you the best of luck in the legal maneuvering down there. It's a hassle at best. Why can't they just wall off a section of San O beach and let the nudists use it. I would think it doesn't have to be all one thing or all another. There is a beach at Lake Tahoe that is that way, by act of nature. Part textile and part nudist, separated by large boulders and rocks.
