I was thinking of the times I was glad to keep my private business separate from NRO. Remember the guy that had no genitals? He was compulsively talking about his crotch area all day, and when I told him that it was against the rules, he called out an assassination hit on me on another forum. Great guy otherwise.

In the early and late 2000s we ruled on top search engine rankings. For a few good years there we were number one and two for "nudist resorts." It's not so easy anymore, especially without any social media presence.

Does anyone here have any experience with GoFundMe style fundraising?
I'm considering doing that to raise enough to free my calendar for a month to get this accomplished without delay. Otherwise I'm limited to a few minutes a day of developing it after working my usual jobs.

Very little.
I noticed that even for worthy, charitable causes, they take (it seems to me) an excessive commission; but perhaps a decent bunch of it is devoted to spreading the word to other potential donors?
If GFM spreads your word to other potential donors, might there be an undesirable backlash?

Potential donors (as seen by GFM) objecting to fundraising for promoting nudity/naturism, aka 'pornography'; possibly reporting the site to potentially unfriendly legal authorities, trying to shut down a 'porn' site; etc, unknown.
Sorry (I'm Canadian) to be negative, but such things seem to happen in some countries, even if the activity is legal and upright. Just trying to ensure all eventualities and risks are considered.
Perhaps others have a better experience than I anticipate? I hope so.

I had hoped that someone might have a little more experience with GFM than I have, because mine is very limited, so I’ve waited. Now that no one else seems to have any input, I’ll tell my story.
I tried it once last year hoping to raise some money to help with the cost to replace the roof of a storm-damaged covered Bridge in Indiana. I expected that the GFM system would somehow draw some attention to my cause, but that’s not really how it works. They don’t seem to do anything except provide the mechanism for folks to make electronic payments, from which they take a small percentage. There doesn’t seem to be any significant advantage over PayPal.

Those are some valid considerations Mark, and I see your point. All they could shut down would be the GFM account though. It couldn't affect NRO.
Thanks Bill. You're making a valid argument. You see some successful GFM campaigns but you don't see how hard they have had to promote it everywhere across social media etc.
