You might try the Ocean Palm Motel. It's the nearest motel to Haulover, well within walking distance. There is a lot of construction of condos going on in the area, but for this season at least, I think Ocean Palm will still be around. It was open, although I didn't stay there this week. I was at Haulover this past week. The weather was great, and the people were nice. I'm planning on retiring to the area in 2 years.

I can recommend Newport Beach Resort in Sunny Isles, about 3/4 mile north of Haulover Beach. I have stayed there 2 times already and the place is fabulous. Definately a 4 star. I do recommend you make reservations because they stay booked year round.
