Hi there! I am a Singaporean who is thinking of trying out naturism. As my country is conservative regarding this, I figured that my best chance would be to try out naturism when I begin my tertiary education in the UK next year. But I was wondering:-

1) Is it actually possible for me to join British Naturism although I am not British?

2) Is there sort of a naturist organization anywhere in Europe/UK/ the world that is friendly to international students?

3) How does a membership to the INF-FNI work?

4) Barring either of the above, what is the best way to get started? Is it alright to get nude in the dorm?
(And this is UK, not USA.)

Rgds,
Arix

Arix, If your roommate doesn't care if you are nude or not or if your dorm is strictly the same sex, I don't think you'll have problems but you'd have to contact the dorm resident aide(RA called here at the university where I work) or ask of your roommate(s).

Have you visited the INF website? There may be a branch in your country that would possibly get you access to an INF-affiliated venue in the UK/Europe. http://www.inf-fni.org/ & http://www.inf-fni.org/pages.php?id=24 is their information on students and other items of interest.

Get nude in your own room, sleep nude if nothing else.

Try www.nuff.org.uk
We have several active members in the UK. I'm sure they can be more helpful.

Nope, my country doesn't have a local branch. It is a very socially conservative country. One naturist website allegedly states that it is a country where one can be arrested for walking nude in one own's house/ apartment.

I read something about an extraordinary membership in the INF-FNI, but am not sure what that actually entails. ANyone can enlighten me?

I don't think room-mate will be a problem as I would be booking an en-suite room, but what is an RA?

Rgds,
Arix

Arix, it should be no problem to join Young British Naturists (YBN) while you are a student in the UK. You can probably join in advance. Contact youth@british-naturism.org.uk for more information and activities near your school.

When I lived in the Philippines, I joined INF as a "direct member" since there was no national federation. Back then, it meant sending a paper letter, but nowadays you can just fill out the online application form. It is of course cheaper to join YBN -- free!

As for being nude around the dorm, every dorm or living situation is unique depending on personalities. As a student in the UK way-back-when, I was just my casual self, and, luckily, aside from some initial teasing, my non-nudist roommates adjusted and just ascribed my "air bathing" time to my personality. So my ha'penny of advice is just to ask early while living habits are forming, be open about enjoying occasional clothes-free time, find out what's naturally acceptable and then go with the flow.

Arix, The 2nd link I mentioned http://www.inf-fni.org/pages.php?id=24 has all the INF information for students. You can join directly or wait till you're in the UK or Europe.

Agde,

1 & 2) DO I need to join BN first before joining YBN?
