I personally think cameras are ok as long as your not acting like paparazzi and taking shot after shot, most will respect you if you ask them to use your own camera only to take photos of yourself with just scenery in background and not other nudists behind you.

Cell phones are ubiquitous and so many take photos, so do many tablets and laptops that people use to read books at the beach. Just don't be using a camera with a BIG lens to focus up close on somebody a way away.

The beach I go to has a hiking trail that oversees the nudists so being seen by binoculars or cameras just will be normal I have seen several people both men and women peering through binoculars to see us nudists. Which I do not mind at times I have walked up to the same trail while nude just to see some nice views over the lake.

We always bring a Camera and as long as your not sneaking around with it no one cares. We have a couple group shots with some of our friends that everyone loves.

We have gotten a stranger to take photos for us so we could be in the photo together.

Our Avatar photo was taken by a stranger on the beach for us.

This is a common thread on so many of the sites and there is usually a faction that is totally against cameras of any kind at any kind of nude venue.

I've said it so many times ... I'm sounding like a broken record.

"It's NOT the cameras you see that should worry you ... it's the one's you DON'T see!

All these concerns about people's nude pictures showing up on the internet ... it's not the guy, girl, couple, group that's taking pictures of themselves that should get you riled up ... it's the guy, girl, couple, group sitting on the outskirts fiddling with their towel, blanket or bag that is hiding a camera, taking voyeur type pics of you or others.

I've seen ... literally, 100's of nudists taking pictures at venues and NEVER have had a problem or one of our pictures show up on some porn site. We don't fit that "model" group they want pictures of! LOL

But ... I have personally run off a few "guys" that were taking sneaky pics of young girls at a nude beach. With the help of a couple other regulars, we were able to get those pictures or make these idiots delete the pics and then ran their butts off the beach.

I get so tired of reading some of these "nudists" posts about not wanting cameras, cell phones, laptops and other electronic devices around the pool deck or anywhere in the nudist venue ... but you look at their profiles, in some sites, and they have dozens and dozens of nude pics of themselves they are willing to share!

Loves being naked. Plays well with others!

Fire that is one thing I will never understand is nudists are full willing to walk around in public nude for all to see but god forbid another nudist photograph them and it end up on a nudist page. If I was afraid of my nude body being on the internet I wouldnt be out in public nude!!!

Totally agree with you on the cameras you can't see fire!
We were at Little Beach on Mauii a couple years ago and there was one guy who kept moving his towel from one spot to another and each time taking extra care with how he put his pack down. Myself and others watched him and he realized he was being watched and soon left the beach.
Mrs Steady and I have no problem wjth friends using cameras while we're nude or even taking our picture to remember and share with each other later.
We have some funny pics of myself and 2 other guys trying to launch a 2 man kayak in heavy surf at Paya Bay resort back in November! The wife of one of the other guys took them and emailed them to us later! Very funny!!
No one on the beach at the time had any concerns about the camera and it really added to the fun of the situation.
When you're on a public beach, nude or not, you give up some rights to privacy. That being said to walk around taking pictures of complete strangers, nude or clothed, is just not cool and will get you into trouble either way.

We were at Collins Beach on Sauvie Island, just outside Portland, OR, one day. The beach was fairly crowded and it was an annual trip to the beach our group of friends takes when we are up there visiting one of the couples in our group. When we got outta the car, one of our friends dropped his camera, didn't think much of it and put it back in his backpack. We'd been out on the beach for several hours and we decided to take our traditional group shot. He pulled out his camera and found that the zoom feature was not working. He began messing with it and trying to get it to work and as I looked down the beach, a couple of younger women were looking our way and one of them was flipping us off! I waved at them as I began walking toward them. I explained what happened and assured them that we wouldn't take pictures of them and asked them if they'd like to come and look through the pictures to see that we did not take pictures of them.

We talked a bit more and I again pleaded with them to come see the pics on the camera and they said , "no, we appreciate you coming over and explaining. If you were actually taking pictures of us, you wouldn't have done that or offered for us to look through you pics." They did come over and join us in a glass of wine and we all kinda laughed about the situation. Our friend with the broken camera didn't even realize he was getting flipped off! LOL His wife talked with the young women and told them ... "he'd have more to worry about from "me" if he was taking pictures of "you" on the beach!" Ya know ... those ladies had a couple glasses of wine with us and then left after giving us all a hug and telling us how much fun we were.

Fire,

I have heard Marianna tell stories of cameras being thrown into the ocean at San Onofre years ago. I bet you were in on that back then too.

I'd heard the stories too but ... I think that was before our time. When we started out in public/social nudism, it was at San O. and Marianna came right over and sat in the sand and talked with us in length about the beach, beach etiquette and handed us some fliers.

After the 3rd time she saw us at the beach, "she" referred to us as "regulars" and handed us more fliers ... to start handing out! LOL I'd never been "volunteered" that fast in my life ... not even in the Navy! LOL

Some of those taking pics were threatened with their cameras going for a swim but out of the three or four we caught ... two of them had the old "polaroid" cameras and we took the pics and the negatives and the rest of the film in the cameras.

One of the cameras was an 35 mm and one of the volleyball guys made the guy take it out of his camera and expose the film, the last one was a digital and we watched the guy delete ALL the nude pics, even the ones that he said were his "personal" pics of his GF ... we didn't buy that story!

The thing is, trying to stop photography at nudist venues now days, is like winning the war against marijuana. It's just not going to happen, and it's truly a waste of time. One can only hope people are responsible about using their phone cameras and such.

Fire,

Marianna also told of catching guys with cameras in their coolers, that were run off the beach and told not to return.

I'll tell ya ... The BeachMom was on top of her game for those several years we visited the beach and she was there. She'd stop mid-sentence and tell me ... "come with me, someone is taking pictures!" I had to laugh ... she was twice my size but I was her muscle!!? LOL

I know Fire, she told me she never worried cause she had all the backup she needed. LOL

She's still a hand full today but I bet in those days she was a fireball.
