For a show like this to work there would have to be an element of comedy and fun that would entertain the television viewer and not upset the mainstream nudists. Since many in the general (textile) public harbor a stereotype of nudists as rural, overweight members of the illiterate Hee-Haw class, I would hope there would be a casting of younger, attractive articulate people. And anytime cameras are involved with nudity there is a delicate privacy line that cannot be crossed.

A nudist reality show could work provided it has some good script ideas in advance. After all, reality shows are just quasi-scripted shows minus the high cost of a screenwriter and SAG actors, right?

The young woman who got the job was an azzhole, making rude comments about people's bodies, etc. The nudists came off as being nice folks. All in all, I didn't find the episode very interesting. I'm sure you could do better.

The reality show you are referring to was called;

NewYork goes to work.

This young woman agreed to go to work at whatever venue the viewers picked for her after the previous segment. The viewers had 3 choices to make and they almost always chose the most "outlandish" work venue or business for her to work.

From the get go....it was full of...sarcastic/joking drama from a "star" that was a full on "drama queen", herself, with all the facial expressions and snide and sarcastic comments to get a laugh.

Tom saw the show as another way to get the younger crowd interested in nude vacations, getaways and just to try naturism. It didn't go as well as expected.

Even though there was an increase in business for the Terra Cotta Inn, I know Tom didn't like the depiction of nudists or naturism by the show. Of course the show had their plants and editing always gives the opposite spin on the show then the producers sell to the participants and hosts.

Tom and Mary Clare insisted that their Inn, their guests, themselves and naturism was not to be the brunt of any snide remarks or jokes. The producers agreed but of course...for laughs and ratings....they did the opposite.

Tom admits that it wasn't a great choice but it did get some younger people to come and check out TCI and in the end...that's what he wanted to do. Some of those that came for the first time because of the show...are now regular visitors to the Terra Cotta Inn. So it wasn't a complete bust!

OMG, I remember that show. Here is a brief video excerpt: http://www.vh1.com/video/misc/392650/new-york-hospitality-nudist-resort-employee.jhtml

Although the Terra Cotta Inn looked like a great Palm Springs nudist destination, Tom and Mary Clare Mulhall probably had some moments of soul searching after watching how that show was edited.

Well look at this. I wonder if the original poster on this thread played a role in this. I'll be surprised if this ever gets any airtime though.

They're casting for The Nak'd Truth in a couple of weeks at that world famous unnamed resort. Deb Bowen up at the clubhouse is euphoric in anticipation and who can blame her. After all the bad publicity about the lifestyle parties the place has received in the past, C******* finally gets some positive national exposure.

I can't put a Tampa Bay Channel 13 news video up due to an offending resort name in the link, but they are looking for 3 women and 3 men under age 35 who have never had prior nudist experience. Although they will work various hotel resort job functions, there is some question where the cast will live for the month-long duration; most likely a pair of condominiums on the resort grounds.

The problem I see with a show like this is that day-to-day work/life at a nudist resort is not that interesting. Sure, it will be titillating at first for textiles, but in order to keep viewer interested the show will have to inject some drama (jealousy, swinging, sunburn, stinging bees, etc.) and who knows how the end result will portray nudism?

The producers should consult with you nudesunguy because the sunburn and bee sting plot lines are Emmy Award worthy compared to most reality show-visits-nudist resort scripts. I'll bet Tom and Mary Clare are still trying to live down their adventure in reality TV out in Palm Springs.

How racy or dull the eventual show is scripted- and edited- ultimately is dependent on who picks up the show. Since it will be on late night cable hopefully The Nak'd Truth can be a great deal better than Paris Hilton's visit where she cleaned hotel rooms and sampled the slide over in the kiddie playground. Since any show will be tailored for the textile community, I suspect we nudists will all be groaning and mumbling "how fake" numerous times each episode.

More reality shows? Couldn't care less if they're nude or not. I'd rather live my own life than watch others day after day.

No offense mate but it's just that my idea of fun and reality shows don't live at the same address.

For anyone interested, casting for The Nak'd Truth reality show is streaming live on the Internet this Saturday, November 13th at 9 a.m. EST from Dick Cheney's undisclosed clothing-optional resort location in Land o' Lakes, Fl. The final cast will consist of 4 women and 3 men between the ages of 20 and 35. As a central feature of the show, the cast must agree to remain nude for the full 30 days of the reality show taping.

For those television viewers easily offended, rest assured the cast will live in separate condominiums on-property, one for men and the other for women. However, since we all acknowledge the stereotypical script of any reality show is filled with turmoil and interpersonal intrigue, toss in the raging hormones of the age group in question, and we can look forward to multiple hook-ups, break-ups and tons of sex tears from the women.

I can't wait.

Tom,

Using "Dick Cheney" and "clothing-optional" in the same sentence should be considered a crime against humanity. The horror ...

I can't understand why anyone would want to do a reality show where total strangers come into your house and life with cameras rolling. To me, this is a total invasion of privacy.

Past attempts of having nudists the subjects of reality shows have not turned out well. Witness the way Paris Hilton (speaking of trainwrecks) and Nicole Ritchie mocked nudist in their show a few years back when they visted - -.
