I first heard of nudism back in the 1960's by reading ASA magazines. ASA is the forerunner of AANR. I then liked what I read about the free natural lifestyle of nudism, that is completely non-sexual. BTW, back then they had to retouch the photos in the pubic area.

I then became an occasional home nudist.

It wasn't until 1988 that I first went to a nude beach (Sandy Hook). Then I became hooked.

Naturally, Lester

I first learned of nudism as a kid reading an old Saturday Evening Post magazine cartoon (late 1950s). It wasn't all that funny, but it showed two door-to-door salesmen about to enter a board fence gate bearing the sign "Sunshine Nudist Coloney." A most intriguing idea! I didn't go to organized nudist activities and clubs until I retired, much later. But in between time I went nude around my isolated yard, went skinnydipping with friends when possible and wore the scantiest posible swimwear when not possible (mostly before those ridiculous boardshorts took over at the beach. I now go to my landed nudist club (White Tail in VA) every weekend and keep a travel trailer there.

As a kid back in the 60's I read a article in those great old true detective magazine about a nudist club,I was intrigued but very shy.Around that time a few of us neighborhood kids about 8-9 yoa were playing in the local woods when one of the boys suggested we all get naked, after a short discussion several stripped or got partially naked mainly the boys the few girls there stripped to their panties but not all the way, unbelievibly shy I managed to strip nude,I'm sure I was nervous as can be but I remember running through the woods with the rest of them having a great time being a kid.It wasn't till years later as a teen I would skinny dip with a girlfriend in florida, and of course those akward years as a teen in junior and high school taking shower in gym class.renewed interest in the 80's and with small children we visiting and joined several nudist clubs in the southeast, wow what I must have missed in those 20 years, now I enjoy the backyard mainly and of course nude beaches.I think i'd like to go find some woods to get naked and run in ,maybe reflect back to the 60's...

As a kid I waited for any opportunity to be alone at home so I could walk around the house naked. Later I would strip off in the bush near our house and enjoy exploring without clothing. I didn't know there was such a thing as nudists until I saw an article in our weekend newspaper supplement about a local resort. The large accompanying photo showed a man about my dad's age, laying naked on a sun lounger, reading the paper (the paper discretely hiding his genitals). I thought this sounded really neat, men, women and children, who enjoyed being naked with other people, in their homes and outdoors. Later I started reading nudist magazines such as H&E, etc., and found out about our city's clothing-optional beach.

The summer I turned 14 I was riding my bike along a back road ( we lived in rural area) and I found a booklet on the road like it had blown out a car window. It was a little black and white picture magazine of naked people doing things like volleyball etc. naked and the rest is history

Actually I've never understood people who make an issue out of being nude. As a family it's always assumed that you wear what's appropriate to your surroundings.
However one day, walking along a very beautiful beach in Spain, we came across a predominantly nudist area and felt a bit out of place not joining in. Obviously on a beach wearing clothes is silly, especially for swimming.
So that's it really, when sleeping, washing and on the beach, it's sensible to be naked. Apart from that, clothes seem sensible.

I think that makes us amateur nudists.

As a Child I had no confidence in my body, I hated school swimming because I hated other people seeing me naked in the changing rooms! When I was 14 I saw pictures of naturists of all different shapes and sizes and thought WOW I couldn't believe how much confidence they had in there bodies.

After that I started striping off in my bedroom and walking around naked everytime I had the house to myself!

When I was 16 I went on my first naturist holday for a weeking in Devon and as soon as I was 18 I joined a local naturist group. Now I have my own car and appartment I live naked and drive to secluded areas to "strip off"

I now love my body and the freedom of naturism!

We are the accidental nudist. My wife and I were recently married and we moved away to south Florida. We both enjoyed going to the beach back home and had been visiting the local beaches in our area. I found a state park between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami and thought to give it a try. We parked the car, took out all of our stuff and proceeded to the beach. There were many people on the crosswalk to the beach with us and while carrying all of the stuff I basically was looking down until we got to the end of the crosswalk and entered the beach. When I looked up everyone was naked and there were even people naked playing v-ball to my right. I stopped dead in my tracks and turned to my wife and said "we are at the wrong beach." Well now I am holding everyone up behind us so she say to go left. We walked and walked carrying still all of that stuff until we reached the end of the nude beach. There was not another sole for hundreds of yards from that point so instead of looking like real dorks we stayed on the nude beach and slowly but eventually participated. Of course the beach was Haulover and we returned many times.

“How did you first personally hear about nudism?” Well, I did not hear about it. I saw it.

In the early 1960’s at the age of about five to seven years old I was into everything in our house. No nook or cranny went undiscovered. One day I found two magazines hidden under a small file cabinet, used for important papers, in the upstairs hallway closet. There were some black and white pictures of people without clothes. Their private areas were not very discernable. In some of the pictures these naked people were doing regular things; walking outdoors in fields and playing some games (it could have been badminton or volleyball). When I finished looking through the magazines I put them back.

For some reason I knew the nudity I saw was not a common way of life. At the time I also knew the magazines belonged to either my mother or my father, but not my sister. I also may have showed them to my sister, but cannot remember for sure.

Being completely innocent about the discovery, I was nonetheless curious about whether they belonged to my mother or my father. Therefore, one evening shortly after finding them I mentioned it at the dinner table. There was no reaction from either parent. The subject was dropped. The next time I looked for them, they were gone.

Knowing what I know now, they were my father’s. As I grew older it was apparent my mother was prudish when it came to sex (and by association, nudism). Also, my father belonged to a gym, which was unusual for those times. As nudism was associated more with fitness then than now, I believe the gym may have been the source of the magazines.

When I was 10 or 11 (I'm 56 now) I heard the term "nudist Colony". Once I knew what it was I wanted to go to one. I enjoyed being nude and spent a fair amount of time that way but alway alone when no one was home or out in the woods. I've always wanted to go to a nudist resort but because of how my life has gone up to now I never have but.......thats all going to change. I am going to Laguna del Sol this weekend before winter hits and plan to go to some other resorts in the future.

Well I was surfing google images for pictures of nudists (Not what you think, I wanted a nude gallery, not pornography) when I came across the gallery of this website. I then found the forums, and read countless threads about nudism. Then I decided to try it my self.
Boy did it feel so natural. I felt free, like I was ment to be like this. This was a year or two ago.

I recently tried being nude in my back yard, and that felt even better. Just knowing that God intended for us to be like this felt so great.

Now what I was doing looking for a nude gallery is another story that I'm not going to post now.

Reading an article in the San Francisco Chronicle, I found out about nudist "colonies." I couldn't comprehend such a thing back in the old days, although I did like to be naked then. Somehow, being that way with other people was too much for a ten year old boy.
