I like the comfort... no uncomfortable clothes! (especially swimsuits... I HATE clammy and/or sandy swimsuits!) I also like the feeling of sun, wind, and water on my skin. Plus, the convenience of getting in and out of water. I love being able to hop from shower to pool to hot tub without all the inconvenience.

After working a long, high stressed day, I can feel my nerves and tension climbing, But as the layers of clothes come off so does the stress, and after a quick hot shower I feel normal.

It gives me the feeling of being a nonconformist. I am doing what most people would never do. Also, it is total contact with nature. It makes me feel like a rebel! It is me!

I enjoy the sense of freedom both physically and mentally. I also hate clothes they are so restrictive and get so hot and stuffy.

I enjoy the feeling of the sun and air on my body. I love to swim nude and get out and lay in the sun. It is nice to be free on the confines of restrictive clothing, like a bra.

I have often wondered if one of the ideal places to allow nudity is the local laundrymat. That way you get all your clothes clean!

You know, bornnude, that does make a lot of sense. I can hardly wait to have a washer and dryer of my own just for that purpose! These days my laundry is half towels and half work clothes.

Bornnude;
I remember seeing a picture of a guy at a laundrymat, doing his laundry in the nude. There were these two women looking at him with confused looks on their faces. I do not know if the picture was staged or not, but thought it was quite cute.

Good thought, Bornnude. It would be substantial progress if it became socially acceptable to take off all clothes, wash them, and put them back on clean at the local laundrymat. But now, its just a fantasy.

I agree rockinghorse, but like everything else, it would probably get out of hand, and the laundrymat would have to be patrolled by the rangers.

I'd like to add another thing. I was waiting to see if anyone else felt this way, but nobody else has brought it up yet.
In addition to the pleasing sensory aspects of sunning, swimming, air, etc., I think there is an undenyable exhilaration in the experience, especially the first time. It feels so liberating to be free of clothes, perhaps because it is not a usual experience in society. That difference helps make it interesting. This makes me think that helping textiles understand us is very important-but, I don't think we need to be so concerned with 'converting' everyone into nudists, or trying to make every shopping center or public place C/O. I feel that the uniqueness of the experience would be lost and thus this aspect of the pleasure of being nude would be lost.

I agree with you nudeisntleud, nudism isn't for everyone. We just need to convince society that we are not bad people just because we go nude.
I agree with you that there was a sigh of relief after I finally gave in and went nude the first time, like a release of built of tension.

So are nudists simply a bunch of social misfits that are simply out to challenge social norms?
