In addition to being legislated out of the loop as Kim said, the parents nowadays also lost the control on flow of information to their kids, thanks to the all-too-powerful internet. Kids can learn fashion trends (good or bag) and other teen culture a lot faster than when I grew up. Tough world out there.

When I was growing up it was the television that gave us all our news. Now days kids have the net to communicate around the world instantly. A lot of information to process quickly.

Very true Corasol. But if they want to tell us that we can't show the top of our underwear, where would they stop? Not before getting to us!

Your right Randy, may even get to the point where guys can't go bare breasted in public anymore.

The typical "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service". So what if all you wore was shirt and shoes?

Never thought about that one! If you walked in carrying your shirt and shoes, would they still have to serve you

No, they could legally refuse service if you were not shod & at least partially covered above the waist, as long as they enforced this uniformly. A sweater or dress would be viewed by such establishments as the equivalent of a shirt (as boots or other soled footwear would be viewed the equivalent of shoes), since they are looking for what they consider "appropriate" attire rather than the specific articles of clothing mentioned.
