This may sound silly (& may already be posted somewhere) but can women wear high heel shoes? And what about men's shoes?? What sort of shoes are acceptable in the various types of nudists communities/resorts?
After reading many posts, I am getting a better picture (example: NO CLOTHES, right?) and a few other no no's but what about shoes??
And on the same subject, what about make up on women? For instance, can a woman where pink, red lipstick, mascara?? I think they can but at the sametime, I am thinking this too may imply "sexuality" so I am still lost with all the details. I know I just need to go to a nudist community/resort but I am trying to find out more from all those who have had a long/short history being a nudist at these types of venues.

Lord-have you people never hear of sandles?I wear them all summer long;to the beach and to my swimming hole.(It's a quarry,spring fed and never stagnent.)Can't swim at the beach in the buff;but there are a few places you can walk to in your SANDLES where you stand less chance of getting caught sans suit and sandles.

ABSOLUTELY NO idea about the types of functions held at a nudist COMMUNITIES/RESORTS.
I ASSUME that SHOES are worn and I ASSUME you have DIFFERENT functions. So my NAIVE mind thinks everyone is NOT walking around in sandals for every occassion AND people GROOM themselves for the various functions. Example 1: I would think people do not wear SANDALS when they go for a HIKE (Nudist function), let's be REAL. As for High Heels (they are "SHOES" and people were what they are comfortable with. I DO NOT know what types of functions, only assume they are normal functions the clothe world attend to, for this is why I ask. Example 2: I think you would "GROOM" up a bit before you walk out the door, shave, comb the mustache, beard, brush the hair...pretty up yourself, right?
Now here is where I am having MIXED feelings when I read some of these posts. The subject of shoes seem to be another ISSUE and I surely do not know about the make-up, only read so far about piercings, erections, NO "sexuality" exists, etc...at these communites/resorts. Oh well, that's okay & thank you for your honest comments. This is a place to "Talk about Nudism" and there are so so many issues (I am learning every time I read comments.) Appreciate all comments.

I'm not pointing the accusatory finger here by any means, but just because we're wearing our finest suits (our birthday suits  ) doesn't mean that we lose all sense of decorum. One can still appear slovenly when they're nude. However, it really is trial and error as to finding out nudist etiquette. I guess this forum is a get-out-of-jail-free card!

Regarding makeup...wear what makes you happy. I wear foundation from time to time. I always wear sunscreen, many foundations contain a 15 SPF. After I wash my face and shower/bathe, I put on eyeline, eye shadow, and mascara. I also put on anti-persipirant and powder. I do not lay out in the sun; am always in the shade due to meds I'm taking and I don't want to fry or have my skin look like leather.
In the summer time, I generally wear sandals. In the cooler months I wear slip on sneakers/gym shoes. I have seen some women at a dance at a park wear sandals with heels, but only at the dance.

It would be interesting to find out from other nudist communies just how many residents they have that aren't nudist.
We have been getting guests and even long term campers whom we haven't even seen nude yet. We think that some people are taking advantage of our low rates and pretenting to be nudists.
We can't exactly run up to them and rip their clothes off, but we can't continue to harbor nomads either.
In our case its not a dress code being violated, it's the undress code.

It never occurred to me nudist communities/resorts would have that sort of problem (with people not being nude.)
So far, I have only been reading about the issues involving the undress codes. That's funny to me to think the nudist communities/resorts experience many people with clothes on. I picture (since I never been to one) a very family oriented type nudist living (all nude) year round with few exceptions such as the weather conditions or not feeling well. But I also picture there are places, perhaps 'communities' where it is a "clothing optional" place to live where in those cases, one spouse feels comfortable without clothing and the other spouse does not feel comfortable without clothing, can at least share the other's desire to live in a "community" or "resort" along with the active nudists. This never crossed my mind because I am single and I just assumed all would be nude in a nudist resort. Which brings me to another thing about the dress code and that is I read somewhere that many of the owners are not nudists, so you would see them dressed in clothing & never nude. I was uncomfortable about that when I read it in one of the other posts & I believe it was Cheri/Admin that mentioned it so I assume it is very reliable information but still, I still do not understand that logic...(if I may say, ever so quietly, that it sounded hypocritical?) Forgive me, but I do not understand that especially when I see the strong activist for promoting nudism. ONLY my one opinion.
Still, I enjoy reading all about these issues, it really paints a good picture of many types of experiences being a nudist outside the home.

A lot of GAY BARS are not owned by GAY people. Some are owned by married conservative republicans. They know who is spending money after all.

imnude2, I am aware of only 2 nudist parks that are currently owned by non-nudists:
Berkshire Vista in western MA and - -. The latter stating that he will become a nudist shortly. GymnoVita is strictly clothing optional and happily so that one of my friends and his wife can visit; she is not a nudist but accompanies him regularly.
Dan Brookstein saw the MA park as a business investment,and it paid off.

There is a long established naturist community in the UK called Spielplatz which has a number of resident naturists, but textiles have taken advantage of the low cost housing there, after all it is close to London where property prices are sky high.
This is a real shame, it denies naturists a place in a really nice community.

No, you misunderstand, they don't stop nudists from being nude, but their presence denies a nudist that home, the place also has vacation homes that can only be occupied for 10 months of the years, but the textiles aren't interested in those, and of course there are the day visit members.
Spielplatz is still a thriving naturist community, and one of the nicest in the UK too, well I like it there!

The trouble with such stupid laws is that they stay on the books long after the original instigation goes away. The city of San Bruno is a small bedroom suburb of San Francisco. In the 1960's one of the three bars in town went topless. Such a sinful adulterous threat to the morals of children and infants (if adults commit adultery, infants might commit infantry) was staunched by a new local ordinance prohibiting (I am not making this up) "exposure of female breasts below a horizontal line at the top of the aureola", public hair, genitalia without public hair, butt-cracks, but not hairy pimply butt-cracks that need this law. It is still on the books. The bar closed in 1968.
