I can't imagine you getting STD's from a tanning booth, but I can see where you might get staph infections, etc., from the booth if its not properly cleaned after each use. Another reason why I don't go to tanning salons.

I wouldn't have thought so either, because germs need moisture and the right temperature to survive. But I have climbed in them when they're still warm, and if they didn't clean them, there would be moisture. I know I sweat in them when I use them.

Well, as long as I'm up anyway, here's another good reason for going nude: when your one-year old son is having trouble going to sleep and needs to be fed a little yogurt to settle down, it's better to go nude. Much easier to clean up whatever he spills on you (cute little fella)!

Philzer,
Even better when he is learning to eat with a spoon. Feed him nude on a highchair in the shower with the curtain or door closed, That way if he decided the stuff on the spoon makes good slinging ammo it will be easy to clean up

You guys! Why don't you just hose him down in the drive way and be done with it? Poor little fella.

General body image question....
I just read Cheri's comment about nudist teens having a better body image than those around them on another thread.
Does it also follow that nudists have less cosmetic surgery (implants, facelifts, etc.)?

bornnude I see less cosmetic surgery and implants at the club, and more at the the clothing optional beach. This maybe just the area I am seeing, I can't say for all or most clubs.

We would agree with Kimberly observation. We have seen several females at resorts with cosmetic surgery, ie breast implants, but the vast majority are natural.
Those that are younger and have breast implants, we have noticed, seem to be alittle more apprehensive about meeting and talking to other people. They, the women, and their male partners seem to keep to themselves. Not sure whether it's their age group or that they feel they are being looked at or looked at differently.
We don't pay much attention to body modifications or augmentations, we like to meet everyone.

At Grand Lido Braco, Jamaica, breast implants seemed likely some young ladies on the "other" side of the resort; that or their bikini straps must have been cutting into their shoulders to keep things so high.
On the au naturel side, only one such enhancement was evident last year - she continued to float after she got out of the pool! In this case, she apparently had had breast reduction surgery some time before, and later had implants, so it seems as though it was not the usual case of guilding the lily.
Cheers!

That would stand to reason FireProf and Revoli42, in the naturist setting, your more natural, and their are no "aires", being put on. In the textile setting it seems like their is more to hide, or pretend to hide.

I would agree with everyone. I notcied one woman who must have JUST had impants because you could still see the scars. This was in Glen Eden (Close LA and Hollywood) so I wasnt as suprised. She tended to act like someone who was there to impress. I am not putting her down or anything.
Also @ Glen Eden I met the most wonderful lady who was wheel chair bound and her husband who helped her in and out of the pools. They have been doing the fulltimer* thing for a long time. Wonderful couple and shows you anyone can be a naturist, we are not all Movie Stars or Models, we are everyone, short, tall, fat, aneroxic, midget, Giant, black, white, and red all over (After too much sun thats me).
*People who live in thier RVs full time and go from club to club when the weather suits (For those that don't know what a fulltimer is)

That reminds me, papabare, of a young woman I saw at our local resort once. She had to get around on crutches because she was crippled in some fashion (I don't remember exactly how), but she was obviously enjoying herself a great deal. I remember what a positive impression she left on me. Little moments like that really reinforce for me what is so special about nudism.
By the way, I caught your reference to anorexia. I used to work with anorexic patients when I worked in the psychiatric field years ago, and they are probably most in need of a positive body image because theirs is so very negative! (My older stepsister had it for a while too, before I met her.) Nudism could well be a great kind of preventive medicine.
